Shaft shoulder

Great variable speed feature, but awful shaft. There is hardly ANY shoulder for the stamped sheet metal flange washers to square up on - so the wheel wobbles from side to side no matter how much you loosen and reposition it. I bought some nice machined flange washers and still had trouble with wobble. I returned the unit.

Delta Grinder

I wanted a bench grinder to sharpen my tools. This grinder did the job with ease. It’s equipped with with a water tray, adjustable tool holder and light. Highly recommend!

Good machine

I have use serial different Delta products and they have all did the job well. This grinder is no exception. Its well made and has plenty of power for sharpening lawnmower blades and the like. I don't think you can go wrong with this grinder for medium/light duty shop work.

Delta 23-196 Bench Grinder

Well, it worked out of the box. If you have a fire going close to where you unbox and decide to assemble take the Instruction Manual and burn it. It's worthless. Search YouTube for actual assembly. The instruction manual is absolutely a horror show. The Chinese to English translator must have been asleep, or drunk. Can't register the product on Delta's website. outstanding grinder

An excellent grinder, solid construction and good fit and finish. Instructions are, indeed, awful but truly you can assemble this from the box photographs and detail images here on the Lowe's product page. In contrast to all the comments about vibration, mine was utterly smooth right of the box and the variable speed is responsive and a real plus. Buy a 40w LED bulb and you'll have plenty of light on the work area right at the tool rests. I don't use it, bit I do like the Delta has a safety key ...

No vibration, quiet, powerful enough

Good design on this grinder. Comes equipped with what I needed : variable speed, tool rests, light. Mine arrived missing parts. Customer service lady was very helpful, identified the parts, checked inventory, shipped them right away. Perfect so far.

Low end

lets try again. I guess my last review was not posted because it mentioned the overseas Country this grinder is made in. Motor is loud Assembly instructions confusing. Motor gets very hot Decal stickers put on crooked. It works but for how long who knows.

Vibrates

took it out of the box, put it together and it vibrated nearly off the bench when turned on. This is the 3rd different grinder I have purchased and returned in the past month. I was hoping that with the Delta name it would be built better. Not so much. Just a cheap piece of imported crap with a brand name on it... Returned it to the store.

Well built grinder

After looking for quite a while I decided to go with the Delta 6" grinder. I'm glad I did. Being a 70ish year old man I remember when things were made much better. This grinder is one of the most well built I have seen and for the price it made sense to buy it. The housing is a heavier gauge than most for the money The base and tool rest is heavier Motor is quiet and balanced I would recommend this

Adequate tool, inadequate instructions

FYI Made in China which in of itself is not a bad thing, but google could have provided a better translation for the assembly instructions. I still have 4 parts and a handful hardware that the "instructions" do not even allude to or have any picture showing them on the final assembly. I have 40 years in aircraft maintenance and have assembled helicopters from design engineering drawings and used U.S. military maintenance manuals without issue. This is inadequate.

Minus 1 star because of the assembly instructions. Who ever wrote the assembly instructions needs a new job. All I can say is that it’s a good thing there’s a clear picture on the box...js

Decent grinder.

I'll be short. I would give this 3.5 stars but that isn't an option. The grinder has good power for its size, it gets up to speed reasonably quick. The grinder does have some vibrations, something any grinder SHOULDN'T have, but many do. The instructions are horrible. It doesn't come with any bolts and nuts to mount it to a workbench and at this price I would expect that.

Seems fine to me

I don't have much experience with bench grinders and I only just began using this, but so far there are no issues. There is very little vibration. I ran it without securing to the bench at all and it never budged. They give you a small wheel dressing tool and after using it, the grinder ran even smoother. The Perfect Grinder

I purchased this grinder for small jobs around the house and primarily to keep the blade on my lawn mower sharp. It was well packaged and undamaged! The 1st thing I noticed about the grinder when I picked it up was how heavy it was, for such a small unit! It's even heavy enough for me to operate without having to bolt it down! Does the trick

As stated by another reviewer, it vibrates quite a bit. However, it smoothed out A LOT once I actually mounted it to the bench. I just used 2.5" screws. I only have 2 real gripes: 1 - The light drifts away from where you position it sometimes. 2 - I swapped out the fine stone for a wire wheel and the wire wheel hits all of the screws that keep the guard held together. Hard to assemble and very noisy

Bought from local Lowes store. Took home and struggled with assembly. I should have tried before assembly because as soon as it starts the motor is extremely loud. Will disassemble in morning and returned to Lowes.

Delta needs better quality control.

Assembly instructions are hard to read. Diagrams are very small. I plugged the grinder in and went to start it—nothing. The switch was broken. You would think the grinder would work out of the box. Nope. Took it back to Lowe’s.
