Ratings may include incentivized customer reviews.
What Customers Are Saying
The product received mixed reviews. Some found it effective and easy to use for small indoor repairs, praising its smooth application, quick drying, and ability to hold paint. However, many reported issues such as the compound being too thin and runny, sagging or dripping when applied, and taking a long time to fully dry. Some also experienced mold growth after storage. The consensus seems to be that the product may work well for some applications but has significant limitations, especially for larger or outdoor repairs.

Would Not RecommendTried on clean dry ceiling would not stick. Thinned out with some water would kind of stick but did not fill in small holes patch fell to the floor. DAP is a great brand; this stuff is no good! Bought DAP DryDex lightweight joint compound worked perfectly.

Good sparkle if you have a large job; don’t store
Would RecommendSmooth spreading quality spackling compound that works well. However, once opened it must be used quickly or kept in a cool location. If kept in non-environmentally controlled storage for an extended period, it will lose its elasticity and mold will begin to form.

It is already mixed and ready to use.
Would RecommendEasy to use. Especially for first time users. I like it.

Nope
Would Not RecommendThis stuff sags and then cracks- terrible chalky flake-fest. I've been using patching compounds for years (used this maybe 20+ years ago) and just about anything is better- this finished, cracks, blisters, flakes, and bubbles just like plaster. Sorry, but it's not 1979 anymore. DAP platinum for heavy-duty, or crack patch for indoor are way better products

Mix well or it gets chalky and chunky
Would RecommendIt’s not very easy to mix. Make sure you have something strong enough to get to the bottom of the bucket.

Would RecommendI like that it's easy to apply and it dries fast. Also covers well.

Won't gill hole.
Says in the description on the web page no mixing needed but the instructions on the bucket says stir thoroughly. I was very watery when I opened it and needed lots of stirring. Even after stirring the product was thin and did not stay in hole I wanted to fill. Even tried thin layers and it still ran out of the hole.

Good To Have On Hand
Would RecommendI bought this after buying the premixed version for years and experiencing the frustration of opening the container to find that it had dried out since the last time I had used it. I do property maintenance so a product like this that allows me to make up exactly what I need without having to worry about spoiling the entire container is a huge plus. For the average homeowner this one bag will last you a lifetime and you will never have to worry about opening up the container to find that your pa...
PestoPatch Ready -mixed
Takes forever to dry if applied thick. Not at all like the Prestopatch dry mix - which sets up in minutes.

Not for Wall Repair
Would Not RecommendI bought Presto Patch for wall repair, but now would not recommend for vertical application because it is too thin and will sag and drip. I used Platinum Patch this summer on another project and it would work better because it is much thicker, but was not on the shelf. I will continue to using Presto Patch on this project as a "base & scratch coat" and use topping compound to finish the surface. I don't know where I'd ever use this product again. Sheetrock mud shrinks, but stays in place, as d...
