Gets the job done.

Good workable consistency and dries quickly.

Less dust floating, but clogs sandpaper.

Works well

Removed canister lights in popcorn ceiling. Used this to fill area on & around drywall filling canister holes. Went on easy (pink), spread easily, stuck well and dried (white) in timeframe as indicated on label. Primed, textured and painted with no issues. Highly recommend.

Worst Compound you can buy...listen to reviews

Ceiling project turned to disaster. Used Dap's regular red joint compound and finished with the Dap DryDex. Sanded, cleaned, dried, primed, and painted. An hour later, every joint where I used the DryDex had the paint bubbling off. Rest of the ceiling looks great. 2 weeks of work ruined because paint won't stick to this stuff. Run away and run fast from this stuff. Now I am on my ladder scraping paint off of my ceiling wondering how I am going to get paint to stick. Don't use it...just d...

Worst joint compound ever

Doesn't deserve one star. After removing old tile, the sheet rock paper was badly damaged. I removed loose paper, and coated with shellac based sealant. Let that dry overnight. Stirred the joint compound and applied a thin coat and when I can back a hour later it had sagged and looked like melted rubber. I smoothed it with a damp sponge, but it continued to sag. My recommendation is to buy a traditional joint compound from a competitor at a third the cost.

It serves its purpose

. I like the low dust aspect. A lot less mess. And the color change as it dries. It does seem to swell a little when painted. would be nice if it came in a smaller package size as well

Slides Down the Primed Wall Like Melted Cheese

Had three sites 12" x 12", 6"x6", and 3" x 12" where the drywall had been damaged and the paper was exposed. I used a brush to apply the shellac-based primer, waited a couple hours, and then attempted to use this product. I stood back and admired my work and started to clean up my tools. After 10 minutes, I observed a "mudslide" down all three sites. I don't know why it was sliding down the wall, but I was glad that I was still there to scrape it off. It's good depending on what you are doing.

To do a large area this is harder to use than regular joint compound. It's kind of heavy and does not spread as smoothly. For fixing imperfections in small areas it's fantastic. When sanding is does gum up the paper more than regular compound. Turning from pink to white to let you know it's dry is nice. I would stick to regular joint compound for the bulk of the work and use this to get the last little imperfections in corners or patches.

Easy for the beginner

First of all I'm not a pro just DIY homeowner and is the first time using the product. Easy to use and the best of all the color change from wet to dry is the best atribute for the beginner. Given 5* the junction and the screws hole omce filled was easy to sand and macht it. My son said to me good job no junctions are seen perfect job. 👌

All taped seams lifted within 24 hours

I tried to save some time, and bought this DAP premix. I followed the instructions on the tub. After embedding tape on an entire room, I let the product dry overnight. In the morning EVERY.SINGLE.SEAM completely lifted on both edges of tape. Climate controlled room, at 73 degrees F. I can't believe they can even sell this junk, an entire weekend lost for me. Do yourself a favor, and mix your own joint compound, this stuff just doesn't work for taped seams.

Spackling

This stuff is more of a spackling. It doesn’t work well on sheet rock. If you are finishing sheet rock don’t buy this product. Trying to thin doesn’t work. I’ve wasted my time and money trying use trying to use this stuff. Now I’m out $21.00 and change.

Horrible

I bought this to fill some small screw holes and very small patch areas. I put a nice layer over the screw holes and this stuff shrinks so much it leaves a divot right where the hole is. Not a very large deep hole at all. Should easily fill and hide the hole. This stuff is horrible. Do not recommend.

Worst drywall compound I have ever used

Do not but this product. I had to repair a 4 foot area of dry wall. When i applied each coat, the product bubbled creating pock marks in the finish. After drying for 72 hours, I started to apply paint, the compound started peeling.

Finicky

While it’s reasonably easy to work with while applying, it’s very finicky afterward. If it gets moist at all, it starts to pull up. This first for subsequent coats or priming. You have to be very conscience about applying in very thin coats and work quickly enough before the previous coat starts to soften. This happened even after the previous coat had been primed.
