What Customers Are Saying
Customers appreciate the sealed packaging and convenient transport with reduced mess compared to loose bales, and many praise its cleanliness. However, significant concerns emerge around contamination—reviewers frequently report sticks, pine cones, leaves, dirt, and sand embedded in bales, falling short of the advertised 99% stick-free claim. Coverage also disappoints some, who find one compressed bag does not equal two traditional bales as claimed. Despite these drawbacks, most customers value the convenience and cleaner appearance enough to recommend it, though quality consistency remains inconsistent.

Would Not RecommendPine straw was terrible quality. It contained many pieces of debris including the expected pine cones and branches. The needles were crushed; making this a powdery mess. It looked worse than the pine straw it was replacing.

Garbage Pine Straw

Its a gamble.
Would Not RecommendHaving read many reviews good and bad i decided to purchase. Of 4 bags only one was "clean straw". The others were full of large sticks and pine cones. Equivalent to one bag was trash. Very disappointed. Will not purchase again.

Trash
Would Not RecommendTried this packaged mulch. fill of leaves, sticks, pinecone. About 30% trash. not much better, if any, than the needles in the tractor trailer. these are not long needle.
Horrible
Would Not RecommendThis product should be named "Bad bagged straw". It's NOT clean and it doesn't spread as much as a regular bale. I bought 6 bags....all contained large crushed pine cones & sticks. No way a bag will cover 80 sqft. Don't waste your money.
Wouldn't call it "clean".
Would Not RecommendThe packaging says "clean" pine straw, but I was alarmed as to how dirty it was. Several bags were loaded with branches and some of the largest pine cones I've ever seen.

It is not 99% stick free.
Would Not RecommendLot of pine cones and sticks. Label indicates 99% stick free. Bought three backs and it was far from 99% stick free, half the bag(s) were stick, pine cone, or just crumbles to small to use.

Not so CleanStraw
Would Not RecommendThe name Clean Straw is misleading. I found multiple large pine cones and a few sticks buried in the bales I purchased. In addition there was several handfuls of compacted broken straw that were included. Too bad I can’t attach the photos I took as evidence. I did like the plastic wrapped packaging as it made it much easier to transport in my SUV.

Great Coverage
Would RecommendIf, like me, you’re hoping to not have to clear the straw of any sticks your dog will eat, you will probably be a little disappointed. While it claims 99% clean, I’d estimate it at more like 75-80%. Good, but not stick free. Im attaching photos of the sticks I removed from one package. That said, I’ve bought other compressed bales that claimed to be equivalent to 2 normal bales and were definitely not. These were definitely at least a 2-bale coverage and an excellent value.

Junk
Would Not RecommendBought 10 bags. They call it clean straw. Out of each bag I pulled out a five gallon bucket of limbs, pine cones, junk. I thought I was buying pine straw. This product used to be pretty good, but no more. This has been going on the last few years. I'm going to have to find another product, this isn't working.
