What Customers Are Saying
The Craftsman gas edger received mixed reviews. Some customers reported it started easily, ran well, and effectively edged their lawns. However, many others experienced issues like difficulty starting, frequent stalling or shutting off during use, and mechanical failures such as broken pull cords, stripped belts, and detached motors. Several reviewers felt the edger was cheap and lightweight compared to previous models. Overall, the quality and durability of this product seem to be concerns for a significant number of customers.

Would Not RecommendBoth the pics and description say this edger is Electric Start Capable, which is what I wanted. Went to my local Lowes and got me one. Got home and started to assemble the edger, when I noticed the electric start port was missing. Read the included paperwork, only to find out there are two versions of this edger: one with and one without electric start capability. Supposedly the box denotes what version is inside. Really? Two versions of the same model number? Returned. My local Lowes di...
Worthless
Would Not RecommendIt's very hard to start, and unless you already have a perfect manicured edge don't even try with this thing. It will cut NOTHING off your sidewalks as far as dirt or long grass. Just buy an edger attachment for a good weedeater and move on with your life.
Poor performance
Would Not RecommendUsed the unit 2 -3 times and the belt is shot and difficult to replace. Poor design!

Great alternative to weedeater-like edgers
Would RecommendOne of the few walk behind edgers for individual homeowners still available. The quality of materials & construction is down from the last identical one I bought, but the durability will be decided in the future. Much easier to manage than an edger designed like a weedeater.

The first one we purchased, the pull string locked and we could do nothing with it. Worst of all, we had not purchased a warranty. We went back to Lowes and purchased a second one and after working for a couple of hours, the band inside broke. We did purchase a warranty but what good is it a product like this fails 2 out of two. I have always trusted Craftsman, but from now on my husband and I will be weary about any of your products. For people on Social Security, this is product is not ch...

Garbage
Would Not RecommendThis year was the second year I've (tried) to use it. The first year it started with little effort and did a great job. This year for the second usage the unit was nearly impossible to start, but after 50 or so pulls it did fire up. As soon as I got the edger into position and began edging it cut off. I then had to go through the same procedure again with the same result. I finally had enough and threw the garbage away.
