What Customers Are Saying
The Craftsman gas edger received mixed reviews. Some customers reported it started easily, ran well, and effectively edged their lawns. However, many others experienced issues like difficulty starting, frequent stalling or shutting off during use, and mechanical failures such as broken pull cords, stripped belts, and detached motors. Several reviewers felt the edger was cheap and lightweight compared to previous models. Overall, the quality and durability of this product seem to be concerns for a significant number of customers.

Would RecommendDid good last year in 2024.But in 2025 can't get it started tried everything even kicked it a few time's that didn't work.Only had it one year lowes gives a 2 year deal...so maybe I try China edgers...wouldn't hurt..
Cheap design
Would Not RecommendBought from Lowe's today ,used it in my front drive and thought this is decent , started my back sidewalk and blade quit turning took apart and found belt melted and cheap plastic pulley melted . Brand new today and used for 20 mins and already broke , called Lowe's and they wanted me to bring whole unit back in just to give me a belt . I will be returning this unit I guess what a waste of time an money
Deceiving Quality Where It Counts
Would Not RecommendI have about 500 linial feet of edging. Pre purchase informed this unit would hold up. Purchased E410 from Lowes in Apr 2022. Used 5 times that year. 2023 used 2 time Unit dumped oil. Took it to Lowes for warranty work in May. Got it back end of August 2023. Worked ok for 1 time use after repair. After 3rd use in 2024, blade stopped rotating upon ground contact. Set unit aside. Looked April 2025 disassembled unit to examine issue. Found unit has 3 pullys. 2 metal with the one that dri...

Bad Information
Would Not RecommendNot happy at all with this purchase. Bought it to replace one we had before due to the "Electric Start " feature it had. Made the purchase online and had it delivered to our home. After unboxing and inspection we noticed that feature was not on the edger. Called the store and basically was told to contact customer service with Craftsman. Several phone calls later I was told that the "Electric Start" feature was discontinued 2 years ago... bummer. Craftsman and Lowe's need to update their produc...

Worked well twice
Would Not RecommendI used this twice and it did great. Third time was NOT a charm! Started edging my walkway and the blade stopped spinning. Checked belt, it's still in place. Blade can be turned by hand, but won't turn under power.
Difficult to Check Oil Level
Would Not RecommendThere is no dip stick to check the oil level and the place to check the oil level is difficult to see even with a flashlight. Therefore, it is easy to run low on oil and not realize it. My unit is now blowing blue smoke, and i believe it is due to the oil level being difficult to determine. I would not recommend it.

Craftsman e410 edger
Would Not RecommendThis is a piece of crap! You have to go through minimum two starting cycles to get it running. If there is an easier way please let me know! Otherwise I give it a 1 rating!!!

Preliminary Review: 2 Uses
Would RecommendI've used it on 2 driveways that haven't seen an edger in years. It handled making a new trench through thick overgrowth just fine. It's a little underpowered but works if you take your time. Would strongly suggest running it a bit and getting it good and hot, using it for a good while, then immediately changing the oil out for some rotella 15w-40 or amsoil 20w-50. The trimmer I have has the same engine and it behaves much better with thicker oil.
Not the good.
Would Not RecommendI used this thing just 2 short times with every time being a battle to get it running and keep it running... ²nd time I used it the pull rope wouldn't retract, just an absolute joke and waste of time, money, and effort. doesn't deserve even 1 ⭐. big pile of💩. 🤯 my mind this thing is still being sold. makes you 🤔 Lowe's will sell anything. 💸

Gasoline Edger
Would RecommendThat it is gasoline operated and it is a Craftsman.

This is the only gas edger under $300 I could find. Nice and light, starts easily, runs good, but it won't cut an edge. I used it 3 times to see if I could figure out a way to get a good edge, no luck. I gave up and bought another, heavier edger which gives me the good edge I'm looking for. 1st Craftsman product I've ever been disappointed in for the 60 years I've been using them. I wish I could return it and get my money back.

Good for a few months
Would Not RecommendWe used this a handful of times last summer, purchased in May 2023. It did a fine job. Unfortunately we were only able to use it once this year in June 2024. Since then it will not start, with plenty of oil and gas. The pull string will not budge.
Burns oil like crazy
Would Not RecommendThis is the second unit we had. First started burning oil within a month, returned to lowes and got another one. Second year burning oil, looks like a mosquito fog machine. Craftsman quality has gone down hill
Bad start
Would Not RecommendFresh out the box and it doesn't start. Been trying to start it for about 2 hours and nothing. This will be getting returned to the store. Thought craftsman products was better than this.

Will not start
Would Not RecommendI had my last edger for at least 15 years and always crank on 2nd pull. This edger after about 5 times of use will not crank. It is cheap built and I would say don’t waste your money. Craftsman was always a great brand but is a waste. Now I can’t find my receipt to take back to Lowe’s. Go for a better brand.

Too Weak To Edge
Would Not RecommendThis model is so underpowered that it cannot cut through Zoysia or St. Augustine grass. I spent 30 minutes to go 10 feet before reverting back to my electric Black & Decker. To be clear, this was not establishing a new trench, just (attempted) maintaining of a frequently trimmed yard. Very disappointing and unable to return to Lowe's because it has been "used" and is not "defective". I could not even trade for a more powerful model, so $230 down the drain. Another issue is that the description ...
