Four years of daily use with no issues

As a designer of customer closets, I use this device several times everyday. I have had no problems or issues with it. I would recommend it to anyone.

Failed

Unit failed after light use. Purchased because of Bosch's name and reputation. Used to measure rooms inside buildings. After light use, less than 24 time over a couple years, the unit failed. Screen flashes all icons after turning on with fresh batteries. Unit stored in office desk drawer and not abused. Attempted to upload image of unit showing the condition is like new and all icons 'on'. However web form would not accept my 42k jpg file. I contacted Bosch customer support hoping maybe...

I should have bought it a long time ago

Describe what I like about this product.... It just WORKS!! This is one of those things that I don't know why I didn't buy it sooner.

GLM 165-40 - I've has 2 fail.

This is the same death the first one had. I store these without the batteries when I'm not using it. Both died by refusing to power on with fresh batteries. I opened both of them and the problem is a design fault. The back cover that holds the batteries is connected to the circuit board only by two fingers that touch the circuit board. The gold flash contact on the circuit board was worn down and corroded all the way to the fiberglass. Stay away from this product

Doa after about a year

Bought the GLM165-40 a little over a year ago..I tried to turn it on and no laser. Screen flips on and off. No warranty cause I didn't register..But its ok because it safe to say I will never buy any BOSH products ever again . Sorry you ripped me off for $140, but the lesson I learned? Don't buy BOSH products

Died at just over a year, light duty home use only

This unit worked fairly well for several months, albeit with many small annoyances. I did not use it for several months and then pulled it out the other day to take some measurements. It is now defective. The original batteries are still at full voltage. The unit turns on but there is no laser beam. If I press the button to take a measurement the red laser will flash briefly, the unit will beep and the screen will show 0' 0". It will freeze for a while and then the numbers will disappear. ...

Cool little tool for indoor use in measuring. Valuable for distances longer than a standard tape measure.

Worth the upgrade

Works great, got my 3rd 65’ model but decided to just finally upgrade and it was worth it. Wouldn’t go back now that I have this one.

An invaluable tool for a disabled woodworker

Works as advertised
