What Customers Are Saying
The Blue Hawk Black Tapping Block is a useful tool for installing laminate flooring, but it has some durability issues. Many found the block to be fragile and prone to cracking or breaking, especially when used with a hard mallet or for larger projects. However, when used carefully with a rubber mallet, the block was effective at securing the flooring without damage. The tapping block may work well for small jobs, but may not be durable enough for professional or large-scale installations.

Would Not RecommendBroke into pieces after an hour of use. I did get my money back though.

They break easily
Would Not RecommendWhile installing 800 sq ft of flooring it took 4 of these because 3 broke while trying to install the flooring.

Use a rubber mallet, not a steel hammer
Would RecommendI’ve used this tapping black for the last 1.5 years while slowly installing 3/4” oak hardwood in my home. It holds up well with a rubber mallet. These are not meant to be hit with a steel hammer- they’re made of plastic. I knew that but needed a bit more force than a rubber mallet was providing and broke it yesterday. Will be going to Lowes to buy another one tomorrow... might even buy two just in case.
Good overall product
Would Recommendwould give 5 stars but needs to be a little strong plastic. used with dead blow hammer and it still seems to chip after time.

tapping block
Would Recommendthis was ok to use but a bit difficult as well, you have to make sure you hold it flush and tight or you will chip the floor piece your working on, other than that it works fine, much better than using a piece of floor and having chips flying every where . lol and you know what i mean.

Works good does not hold up
Would Not RecommendWorked well until it snapped in two pieces. It needs to be made out of stronger materials.

Best tapping block
Would RecommendDo not try to install laminate without one of these blocks. It will save you time and headaches.

Tapping block cracks on use
Would Not RecommendI used the tapping block for just a few hours before a crack propagated 3/4 of the block's length. No instructions, warnings, or other caveats were included with the item.

I bought three of these and all three broke.
Would Not RecommendI bought three, and all three broke. Happened just like other reviewers stated. I did two houses with the previous tapping block I had that I misplaced, so I know it’s not my technique. It seems that the tapping block has inconsistent formation which weakens the entire tapping block. I wish I hadn’t spent the money on three of these.
Block breaks easliy
Would Not RecommendI like the design of the block, with a large amount of surface area pressing down on the laminate. (Hence the two stars) However, we broke three blocks during a 900 sq.ft installation. Also, my preference would be to have these made in any color but black. They get lost on the black plastic under layer. Orange would be a nice color selection
Tapping Block works like a charm!
Would RecommendIt takes a few trials, but once you get the hang of it, laying lock-in flooring goes pretty easily using this block and a hard rubber mallet.

a waste of money
Would Not RecommendGot four uses out of it because it completly broke in half. I used the recommended mallet and minimal use of force. The concept is great but the material not so much.
essential tool
Would RecommendThis is an essential tool for laying interlocking flooring. Much better than using a wood block to bang the flooring together and possibly damaging the edges of the flooring. This tool fits the edge of the flooring and prevents chipping.

OOPS
Would RecommendOOPS. The first one broke and I had to buy another one to finish our floor. I would recommend because it's better than not having a tool.

Thankful
Would RecommendI bought one of these about 10 years ago but misplaced or lost it. A must have when installing laminate
Cheaply made
Would Not RecommendI ave now bought 3 of these. They have a tendency to crack, when they crack they vibrate then it starts to chip away at your Laminate flooring. Not good

Broke!
Would Not RecommendI had to replace this after it broke when I was using it. Unfortunately Lowe’s only carries this block so I had to buy the same one. At $10 for a piece of molded plastic I would’ve hoped it would have lasted the whole job
