What Customers Are Saying
The bug zapper has mixed reviews. Many found it effective at killing mosquitoes, flies, and other insects, reporting a significant reduction in bug problems. However, some were disappointed, stating it did not work as expected and failed to attract or kill pests in their area. Positive points include its ability to cover a large area, automatic dusk-to-dawn setting, and included mosquito lure. Negative feedback focused on issues like not killing common pests, the device breaking down, and difficulties with cleaning and maintenance. The product's quality and durability seem inconsistent, so customers should carefully consider their specific needs before purchasing.

Would Not RecommendI would rate this a zero if I could. Does not kill any bugs. What a complete waste of money.
ZAP!
Would RecommendWow! This is like watching fireworks on the Fourth of July. When it zaps that’s that. Bugs are gone. Easy to clean out.
Super value. Works so good”

Not worth buying
Would Not RecommendNot worth the money
Deadly for mosquitoes, not much else
Would RecommendThis thing is great. I marked it down one star for 2 reasons. First, you must clean it daily! The electrified screen that kills the bugs gets completely covered in one night and those bugs don’t fall to the ground like the product description suggests. If you don’t clean that screen every single day, it will be completely ineffective. I use compressed air and a blow gun to clean it which works well. Second, it doesn’t seem to attract very many types of flying insects. Mosquitoes are highly a...
Piece of Junk
Save yourself the hassle and money, didn't even last 3 months. Worked decent when it was working but didn't even last a quarter of the year, and summer is coming up when it's going to be needed the most. Lowe's wouldn't exchange it because it's been over a month. Growing up, my parents had the same bug zapper for a decade. Believe the reviews, it's trash. And that's exactly where it ended up on my way out of Lowe's, their trash can by the front door. Would have been better off buying ten cans of...
Not a Light, Not a Zapper
Would Not RecommendAs far as I can tell, the black light in this bug zapper is completely ineffective in attracting insect pests. We purchased the Black Flag bug zapper to replace an incredibly effective, but short-lived (6 mos.?) that we purchased from an on-line retailer. In the two, maybe three, months we owned this zapper, it never once, to the best of my knowledge, zapped a single bug -- no flash, no crackle, no collection tray to empty, no evidence of a bug being caught by this device. The bugs were aroun...

40 watt bug zipper
Would RecommendIt's the light of many bugs' life
7 weeks of use
Would Not RecommendIt's been 7 weeks since I received my new BLACK FLAG 40-Watt Bug Zapper Outdoor Insect Trap. I noticed a few days ago that the purple glow it used to give off at night was no longer glowing. I cleaned it one last time to make certain it had really stopped functioning and it's true. It's dead. It worked great when it was working but it just stopped in less than 2 months.
Worked well enough that I bought more.

Not Recommend
Would Not RecommendI had high hopes for this unit after reading more than a few reviews. Maybe this unit will work in a city or if you are trying to kill the occasional fly. Now, if you live in a high mosquito, rural setting, be ready for daily maintenance. The fencing is too close to one another and completely jams the unit with dead bodies to the point that it losses killing efficiencies and stops working. You need to use an air compressor every day to clean it out so it will work again. Here in Montana, th...
