Life and build not great - but convenience trumps

This is my second one. The first one died after 3-4 years, which is shorter than what I expected, so I didn’t want to buy a new one. I resisted for a few weeks then opening app and/or waiting for the auto-unlock was bit annoying so I ended up buying a new one. Overall, it’s ok. The build is not that great and, based on my experience, it doesn’t last long. But then, it is very convenient and easy to manage (sharing codes with friends, etc.).

New Design Needed

The keys should be more positive in operation also the backlight is hap hazard so you are not sure it is functioning

Works great but did not last

The keypad has worked great for us. However, after a couple of years the lock/unlock button sometimes becomes unresponsive. Unfortunately if we want to keep using it I will need to buy a new one.

A must have addition to the August smart lock.

I have two of these, they compliment the August smart look well adding many additional features to your smart lock, I only gave it 4 stars because I think they could have made it a little more attractive.

Brittle and unpredictable

This is my THIRD unit within 3 years...first one broke as I was changing the batteries. The second one is draining batteries EVERY WEEK...even though it is a hardware issue, they did not want to hear it and want me to purchase the unit.

Poor battery life

Batteries only last a month or two. Just when you need to use it, it's dead. Sometimes you get an email notification that the battery level is low, but sometimes you don't, so you never know if it'll work for you when you need it.

Doesn't Connect to Lock

I was totally shocked how bad this product is and can't believe they can continue to sell it. Never works reliably in any manner. Always have to change batteries and then have to re-sync it again and again! Most frustrating point was that they would not offer a replacement because 1 year and 2 weeks old. Meaning 2 weeks past the one year warranty period!!! If you get this product get the extended warranty for it if they offer it.

has to be replaced about every two years

I love my august smart locks, but the keypads only last about two years before they have to be replaced. I have three august pro smart locks and love the convenience and safety of auto lock feature. I love the keypad entry option to give others access without a physical key. My only complaint is the keypads only last about two years. This is the second one I am replacing.. I contacted customer support after the other one quit working and I tried to reset it to factory settings. Their only ad...

Works as advertised

The keypad is handy and provides another way to lock and unlock the door (the phone app being the other way). Overall I like the compact size of the keypad, but the depth of the unit is about the same as the width, and it might look better if it were only about 1/2 the depth.

It saved us.

We just installed this in our vacation home and then proceeded to leave our house keys at home. Thankfully we can open it via the August door lock and keypad.

The first one didn't last 6 months

I purchased several of these with the lock. This one was installed around Thanksgiving. It failed on me in February. August wouldn't warranty it because I had purchased it just over a year. Even though they could see it had never been used they still wouldn't warranty it. I'm surprised and wish this company would stand behind their products. I ended up having to but a replacement.

Great little addition

I had my doubts, when seeing the size of this keypad. However, after using it now for almost 2 years here in Texas where the heat is extreme, I can say that it is very well-made. It works wonderful and is much faster than pulling out the phone for locking and unlocking. The only issue I had was that I used the mounting tape instead of screws at first. With our weather that was not a good idea, although it did last almost a year.

Great addition to August Smart Lock

Still early days with keypad, will try to remember to update in 6mo or so. We’ve had the lock for 5+ years now and the keypad makes sharing access much easier. Will also come in handy for our VRBO rentals as some guests struggle with phone apps.

Everyone loves it

some of my family members can't be bothered with downloading the app so that they can enter my house. Everyone is in love with their personal code to enter my house. This is a big win for me.

Smart Keypad doesn’t connect with August lock

The smart keypad didn’t connect with August Smartlock as it’s unable to detect the lock during the search process (red light blinking).
