Peace of mind

I was in the process of sanding down an old piece of furniture to restrain and paint, when I thought, "I hope this thing wasn't painted with lead paint." So, I went up to Lowe's and bought this kit. It comes with a tester which contains a small amount of lead so one can see it works properly. Thank goodness there was no lead! Otherwise, cleaning up the garage was going to be a major headache!

I scratched the surface of the old door. There were three coats of paint and one varnish on the way to bare wood. I followed the easy directions and checked for lead ... NO LEAD! Not believing the results, I tested the swab on the test strip and found red! I was happy. It was a bit pricey at $10 for two test strips but it beats ingesting lead.

Don't waste your money

Bought it to see if an old boat we own had lead paint before we put it in our kids room. The first one was inconclusive, so we tried the 2nd test. That one didn't work at all. In the end we stripped all the paint off the boat, which is what we were trying not to do. Don't waste your money

Safe Living

I'm relieved to know I have no lead paint in my old house. My dog loves to eat paint chips, so I was very worried about him.

Test Kit Broken in package

Opened the package to find out the luiquid has dried up in the tubes. Both tests were non functional.

One out of two was bad

I got a bum set. One worked, and the second one - the one I really wanted to use - came out dry when I crushed both the capsules inside. Like bread falling on the buttered side. Bummer.

Quick and easy

This product works very well. The test sight preparation and choice of locations to test is the most difficult part of using this kit. Our house is over 60 years old and has many layers of paint. To my surprise the oldest paint did not contain lead but more recent paint did. You have to look carefully with many layers to see the reaction.

Useful!

I needed to verify if some trim work in my home was painted with lead based paint. Product was easy to use. There were directions particular to multiple situations including mine. Luckily, no lead on my trim work. I can rip it out without precautions! I carry a Lead RRP certification.

EXCELLENT Product & enlightened me

This product was 100% accurate (I used 4 double packs testing various items at my house). I've been doing a lot of home remodeling (female) this year and I wanted to find an old antique door to use to decorate. After locating one from my neighbor, she mentioned that although it was beautiful, it probably contained lead paint b/c it was 75 years old. Inconclusive

I bought 2 packs of 4 tests. 3 came came pack slightly pinkish and one was more yellowish. The kits says if its red (or even pink if you read the directions carefully), then its lead. A few came back salmon colored and one was more dirty yellow. My wife freaked that we had lead and the kids were playing outside near paint chips. Piece Of Mind

I used this on a home I had just purchased, just to be sure we were safe. I was told the walls were recently painted - and just wanted to be sure they used the right type of paint in the basement. This product is simple to use, and you get results instantly. I can now sleep better knowing my family is not breathing in any toxic substances.

Quick and easy lead tester

I requested a free sample of the 3M lead check instant lead test swabs. I tried them today 11-02-14 on a variety of dishes and glassware. I found it easy to use and found out that none of the items I tested had lead. I loved how in included test confirmation card. I used it to double check to see if our plates and glasses had lead. Easy to follow instructions

I received the free lead check sample kit from 3M ! I found it easy to use & checked several surfaces as I was worried about our pets being exposed to lead ! However all things checked out lead free ! This is a great product & I would recommend it to everyone !

Great Product

I thought these were really good I used one and it did not turn red but they worked like they are suppose to. I would buy these again.
