4 freaking coats!

I paid $50+ for the Valspar Reserve satin paint + primer because I was painting over a deep brown. I knew going in it would need 2 coats, but the brown still showed through, as it did after coat #3. Four coats! It took 4 to finally get it covered over a gallon and a half for a tiny bedroom with 2 sets of double windows and 3 doors. Not very happy!

Poor review

Bought the reserve instead of the middle tier of Valspar as the middle tier was causing us to do 3-4 coats of white per room on an original light blue paint. So we bought the reserve where it says one coat coverage. We have still had to do 3 coats per room with the same original light blue paint. First 5 gallon of white was valspar signature and the new 5 gallon of white was reserve where, again, we had to do 3 coats per room.

Hard to like...

"One Coat Coverage Guaranteed" - it says so right on the label. We are repainting a SMALL bathroom and ran through one gallon after only finishing half the room - maybe 250 sq ft. We are covering a light green with a a "Dover White" color and it is not even close to covering. Going to have to get an additional gallon to finish and will need at least one more for a second coat. Lies not good paint

Nothing about this product is one coat. I put two coats on and it still needs a 3rd. I am pased my breaking point with this product. I bought it because i had a large area to paint. Also if you plan to remove your tape be ready to be angry as its likely to take your paint with it. Really bad product for the money. Sticking with signature next time have never had a problem with it just thought i may get what i pay for with this product. Thats wrong.

Great for trim

Not One-Coat Coverage

This is definitely not a one-coat coverage paint. We had to do two coats in each room. Very disappointed that we paid extra for the one-coat coverage and could’ve easily used a different level of paint and gotten the same result. Not worth the price.

Best interior period.

Absolutely love Valspar. Their paints and brushes and rollers, well actually every product they offer is the best I've ever had the joy of using FIVE ⭐ FROM ME AND I'D GIVE IT A 10⭐ IF I COULD. THANKS VALSPAR.

2 Coats and covers great.

OUTSTANDING!!!! Great covering. For those saying they needed 3 coats then you need to learn how to PREP before you paint. I have NEVER found a single paint that doesn't need 2 coats, for proper coverage 2 coats. Washing walling patching holes, sanding where needed proper brushes and rollers 2 coats is all I have ever used. Yes many paints say "One Coat" so if you have to buy an extra gallon go back to the store and get a refund then buy another gallon, I have never had to to do that because I ...

Not close to 1 coat coverage. 3 minimum over very light colored walls and still looks terrible!

Wow!

I went to Lowes planning to buy Sherwin Williams to paint my toddlers new bedroom before baby #2 arrives. The Lowes rep told me the Sherwin Williams rep had just visited that day and told him the paints are the exactly same and there’s zero difference. I really found this hard to believe but after a lot of convincing I tried the reserve. The “one cost guarantee” on the can is not true, it needs two for sure. Quality Paint

Excellent paint, pricey but worth it. Runny in satin finish, just need to be careful when applying.

Love This Paint

I have children and 2 dogs in the house and the walls seem to always have little handprints on them. This paint is amazing and I have had no issues cleaning it. I also love how easy clean up is after I finished painting. Simple soap and water.

Great one coat coverage!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I absolutely love Valspar paints. I recently decided to try the Reserve. And it did not disappoint. I was attempting to cover a rather dark blue with a significantly lighter color. And the result was amazing. You can not go wrong with Valspar.

Don’t buy this paint

Worst paint ever purchased. We had to apply 3 coats over light colored walls because it looked like we didn’t use much paint. Now the paint is wrinkling in different areas of the walls. We would like our money back!

Don't buy less than a gallon

A gallon of this paint costs $55.98. I needed an additional QUART to finish a room. I was charged $26.98 for a QUART !! /what is WRONG with this math? I understand a quart to cost more this way, but TWICE as much? Very unfair pricing.

Mold everywhere

Using for exterior project (((chicken coop interior walls))) project is not even finished—- no animals living in the area,- and I’m covered in mold/mildew..

This is the worst paint I've ever used!! Peeled so bad, have to go over & touch up everything we've done! GGRRR!

Horrible Stuff

This is the worst paint I have ever used in my life. It has great 1 coat coverage but it literally will peel off the walls! Tape off your door frames and baseboards; when you remove the tape, the paint comes with it! The worst $100 I’ve ever spent in 2 gallons of paint!! NEVER AGAIN!!
