Painted a room

Not a 1 coat (or even 2 coat) paint

I am a Ben Moore lover, but with the price of paint, decided to try and save a few dollars and use the Valspar Reserve paint in our home. I attempted to cover a light gray paint with a cream tone...I have used 3 coats, and it looks horrible. I am so disappointed, as anyone knows how long it takes to prep and clean for a paint job. I have spent WAY more money trying to add more coats than if I had just gone with a good quality paint to begin with.

Highlighter effect any over lap is amplified

One coat guarantee is a joke. It took 3 thicker coats. To get the jazzy red to look the color it said it would.

Love the Finish

Chalky when touched

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product did not cover in one coat and when you touch the walls it leaves chalky like marks.

It looks fuchsia when you open it’s not.

The color looks like a fuchsia when you open the paint, but once it’s on the wall it’s a deep burgundy! I love it!

Never lets me down…

If you are not happy with this product (Reserve) then you probably shouldn’t be painting at all. This paint especially in flat makes ok painters better and experienced ones know if they have tried it. The only downside for the working professional is that it’s pricey compared to production paint lines.

Valspar Reserve poor quality

I asked the rep at Lowes for the best wall paint, and he recommended Valspar Reserve for interior walls. A bit pricey but I was happy until I used it today. The paint is runny and requires recoat in spite of trying to put it on heavily. The paint is so runny it ran down through a high dollar trim brush, through the bristles and onto the handle. Had to repeatedly scrub the brush on unpainted parts of the walls. Painting over another light color should have been easy to cover. but now I have ...

Tricorn Black matte

Purchased the Reserve in matte finish. Needed two coats, now when you touch the wall it gets a white film. I now need to purchase another gallon in eggshell to see if that rectifies the problem. I am very disappointed!

This is the best color!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this paint, and I bought the color iron frost, I love it so much that I have painted my entire home, variations of this paint. I painted my hallways this color, then I had them mix lighter and darker colors to make different variations so I was able to use this color as a color scheme and it’s amazing. Absolutely BEAUTIFUL!

Poor review

Bought the reserve instead of the middle tier of Valspar as the middle tier was causing us to do 3-4 coats of white per room on an original light blue paint. So we bought the reserve where it says one coat coverage. We have still had to do 3 coats per room with the same original light blue paint. First 5 gallon of white was valspar signature and the new 5 gallon of white was reserve where, again, we had to do 3 coats per room.

Great for trim

Not One-Coat Coverage

This is definitely not a one-coat coverage paint. We had to do two coats in each room. Very disappointed that we paid extra for the one-coat coverage and could’ve easily used a different level of paint and gotten the same result. Not worth the price.

Best interior period.

Absolutely love Valspar. Their paints and brushes and rollers, well actually every product they offer is the best I've ever had the joy of using FIVE ⭐ FROM ME AND I'D GIVE IT A 10⭐ IF I COULD. THANKS VALSPAR.

Worst paint ever

I've used Valspar paint for years and never had a problem, but this new Valspar Reserve acrylic paint is like painting with water. Extremely runny takes two to three coats to cover and drips everywhere. I figured 5 gallons of paint to do the job and ended up buying almost 10. Valspar you just lost a longtime customer because of your inferior paint. oh, and your one-coat guarantee is a joke.
