Door Makeover

I had updated our porch by painting it a few weeks ago. I emailed Valspar's customer service to ask for help in selecting a color for the door to match Valspar's Light Grey concrete paint. I went with their suggestion of Hematite grey. Perfect complement. Love this paint. Smooth application and great coverage. Used a small sponge roller for application after cutting in panels with a tapered brush. Love th e new look!

Still tacky after drying

I purchased this paint for a metal front door. My husband and I sanded the door and cleaned it to perfection. The paint went on OK, and we let it dry for the recommended time before we put on the second coat. after drying for three days in a house that is around a 77° temperature, the door is very l tacky. So much so, that if you touch it, it shows your fingerprints. It seems like this is never going to dry! I am so disappointed with this paint and I feel like I wasted my money. We are about to...

Faded

We painted our house in Florida six years ago. The entire house will have to be repainted do to fading. I would not recommend this paint!!

Best ever

This paint is very thick, covers really well with 1 coat. And you can tell it’s excellent when it Dries on your paint tray. When you go to clean it off it stretches like a rubber band. Great for wood that expands and contracts under the elements. I will never use any other exterior paint again. It’s expensive but you get what you pay for.

Worst paint ever

This paint is like Elmer’s glue this is after 3 coats

Algae and mold love this paint. Requires three coats to be effective.

I have a can of this in the exact color I want…. Can I use it on my bathroom walls??

Lowes cannot color match to save their lives

Whether provided a sample of the item you need color matched to the actual empty paint can with the codes used to make the paint, it never matches. I've had a brown plastic garage door scanned, and when painted it was greyish-brown. This picture is from a new can given to Lowes to mix a quart so I could touch something up, the dark brown is the new paint, the lighter brown is 6 months old. Avoid Lowes paint or buy more than you need if you want to touch up in the future.

Very Pleased

Painted entire exterior of my 4200 sq foot house which is cedar clapboard and pine trim. Only needed one coat ( we were not changing color of house). The paint is nice to work with and brushes on smoothly. I did prep thoroughly with power washing then scraping and sanding any part that had loose or peeling paint. Perfect consistency with this paint and even where I scraped to bare cedar the paint covered nicely in one coat but I did use two coats for those areas. I used 11 gallons and none ...

Not so good

Purchased Valspar Duramax Exterior paint + primer 365 for my front door. Its is very thin and watery even after stirring and shaking, unlike other paints I have used. When it dried you could see the roller marks and did not leave a good finish. Going to give it a third coat to see if it looks better.....

Goes on like butter , then have lifting paint ,when pulling just comes off in large sheet

Went on pretty easily. Looks great but needed about three coats on a primed door. I’m sure that’s normal though. Hasn’t been long enough to see how it holds up through rough weather but so far so good.
