I got some of these to easily put up curtains in some of our narrow windows. They work, but are a bit thin and not super sturdy. You have to be gentle moving the curtains, or you risk knocking them out of the window.

I bought this to use in my laundry room to hang shirts out of the dryer. I needed something 18" wide to fit between two cabinets. The rod is narrower than expected, but does the trick.
