Combining a Raised Bed, Vertical Garden and Containers
The wall block raised bed creates the base of this vertical garden, adding an attractive mix of colors and textures. The trellis lets you create a vertical container garden, adding to the curb appeal and giving you planting space that’s easy to maintain. We’ll show you how to build a raised bed vertical garden similar to the one you see at your local Lowe’s, but keep in mind these are general steps. You may need to adjust them to fit your landscape or customize them to fit your outdoor style.
Choose Your Wall Block
You’ll find retaining wall blocks in a range of sizes, styles, colors and shapes:
- Use block with a trapezoidal shape for making curves or circles.
- Choose rectangular block for designs that use straight lines and right angles.
- Blocks with a back lip lock in place with block on the lower row and gives the wall an incline.
- Some blocks rely on gravity to stay in place. You typically use this type of block to create a wall with a flat face. Some gravity-held block uses an optional pin system to hold individual blocks in place.
