Step 1: Unpack Your New Electric Range
Before doing anything, enlist a friend to help you out. When your new electric oven arrives, slide the box to the kitchen before opening it. The cardboard box makes it slide easily across the floor and saves you from the backache of trying to lift it later. Make sure your path is clear and be careful not to damage your floors when moving such a big box.
Once in the kitchen, don’t try to tip the range out of the box. Instead, use a box cutter or pair of scissors to carefully cut the box away from the range. Remove any cardboard, stickers and plastic from the inside and outside of the oven.
Step 2: Connect the Electric Range Power Cord
Your new electric stove will need a new power cord. The way the power cord is connected to the back of your range may vary by model. If you purchase your range at Lowe’s we’ll help you find the right power cord. If you’re unsure, refer to the manual for specifics on connecting the power cord.
Before plugging the cord into the wall, flip off the breaker for the oven power outlet. Plug in the range and flip the circuit breaker back on. The control panel on your stove should light up. If it doesn’t, turn the breaker back off and check that the power cord is securely connected and try again.
Step 3: Level the Electric Range
Now it’s time to slide the range into place and get it leveled. Place the level diagonally on top of the stove across two burners. Use pliers to adjust the stove’s legs until it is level with your countertops. Check your level one more time to be sure before moving on.
Step 4: Set the Time and Enjoy
Once your new electric range is plugged in, the last step is to set the time and get cooking! Refer to the owner’s manual for more information on your model.
