Fun Fence Improvements

Brought to you by Lowe's Creative Ideas

Sure, good fences make good neighbors, but they also make boring backdrops. Add pizzazz to privacy fencing with four fab facelifts.

 Multicolor picket fence being painted

Privacy never looked so pretty. This update is super easy: Just sand down your fence boards and paint them in a variety of colors. Switch up the colors at random -- a few green boards here, a couple yellow and orange ones there -- for maximum visual interest (We used Valspar Duramax paint in Field of Daisies, #3003-1B; Toasted Pumpkin, #2006-1A; Fiddlehead Fern, #6003-6B; and Cliveden Pasture, #6001-6C.). If you prefer to stick with a single color, here are three more ways to dress up a fence.

Fence Gutter Garden

Green up a plain fence while keeping pests out of your garden produce. Turn pieces of gutter into containers for herbs and leafy vegetables.
