This interior exterior primer is an outstanding product. I've used this product for no less than 30 years and have achieved flawless results for a multitude of projects very large and general DIY within both Comercial & residential needs. It's adherence is its most beneficial capabilities and stands up to the test of time.

Didn't work

Used to cover urine smell in subfloor of new construction home that was broken into. 3 coats later and you can still smell the exact spot the urine was on. Same issue on concrete. Yes, multiple steps were taken to treat urine before using this product. I knew I should have used Kilz oil based. When I finally did, one coat did the trick. Returned and got money back.

Great stain sealer, but difficult to use.

Avoid Damp Locations

This primer is special. It makes a hard coating and seals drywall up with a new finish, but... Not for in-use bathrooms that have moisture AND I had irregular adherence to my old patches. It cracked where it was exposed to steam/mist from the shower, and our shower is more than well-ventilated. I have a 115 cfm broan exhaust mounted directly over the shower, about 10" in front of the shower head, where the old paint had peeled (pretty slick, eh?) Difficult to use, Clean up a mess...

Horrible stuff... 1. Has the viscoscity of water.... runny but still drying so fast it's ridiculously hard to use, splatters all over the place. Forget about wiping up spills in time. 2. It dries so quick that you are leaving heavy brush marks while you're working on your drawers fronts. ( In my case anyway.) 3. Clean Up ? Forget about it. Soap & Water ? NO. Paint Thinner ? NO Mineral Spirits ? NO Only denatured alcohol or ammonia with water... wow...glad I didn't use my really...

Always fresh cans because of quicker turnover than the paint stores.

This stuff is great!

Covers knots, and they never come back! I've used B.I.N. for years and have had outstanding results painting over knotty pine and/or cedar knots. One coat only covering the knots, then two more coats on the entire surface. Wha-la, no more knots, and they won't bleed through even after many years! This stuff stinks though. I always wear a respirator.

Coverage rating

Okay, so I thought I would give this a try. I tried 2 different kinds, and let's say the most expensive 1 out of the 2. That is what actually did the job. The coverage was good but still not as good as it proclaims to be. It did fill in some of the cracks and knots in the wood as well as cover some of the stains. I goal here was to only use 1 coat. I'm sure if you do 2 coats, then it would fill everything at that point

Shellac primer

This product really works. It covers shellac surfaces in one coat and cleans up with ammonia.

Spreads even and bonds to the wood really good
