The Primer that Defeats Bleed through Stains.

This is the primer to get if you are struggling with "Tannins." Tannins are mysterious stains which bleed through some primers and latex paint. I found out the hard way about them. This Paint Does It All

This is my go-to magical paint choice. This covers everything I put it on. No bleeding, and in some cases after a few coats, I left it as the finished product, and didn't bother to cover it with a colored paint. I have used this on old plaster, pine, drywall, moldings, and bead board. I wouldn't shy away from anything with this paint on my brush. Clean up is done with acetone, denatured alcohol or ammoniated detergent due to the shellac in it.

Terrific primer that dries super fast

Had badly damaged drywall after wallpaper removal - this primer really helped to hold everything together before spackling. It’s very runny, so be sure to use drop cloths but dries in less than 1/2 hour. The smell is powerful but once dry it doesn’t linger the way oil based primers do.

Good stuff

Primed some old, stained, wooden kitchen cabinets that I’d first cleaned and sanded. I wasn’t bold enough to try without first prepping them; though I’m told you can. Used an airless sprayer with a 311 tip. Went on fairly easy, and covered everything, but is very thin, so overspray is definitely a thing. Very aromatic (to be kind), so use a respirator. I used this primer on my home office built-in cabinets and shelves I wanted to paint. I did a test patch before diving in. I used Krud-Kutter degreaser first and did NOT sand. This primer adhered so well! I could not scratch it off with my nail. I also did a test patch of a Sherwin Williams bonding primer and it was pretty easily scratched off. Great product, but requires alot of mixing

Only complaint is that the paint was not shaken. This Shellac Primer takes a lot of mixing, if not mixed at the store.

did the job

I used it to cover up old brown drywall , and it worked. I would recomend letting it dry awhile before painting over..kjhkuhyghbhjjhbjhbhjb

BIN pigmented shellac - excellent

There is not a primer on the market that matches it. I've used this product for a long time. It adheres to most any surface well and cleans up with household ammonia. It performs much like oil-based primer, yet dries quicker and does not take mineral spirits. I followed rhe directions. 3 good coats with dry time between, topped with 2 coats of latex. Almost no reduction in smell. Zinsser makes a claim they cant stand by. I paid $44 for a gallon of unkept promises. Thanks, Zinsser.

Does not block odor

After 3 coats with plenty of dry time, odor still comes through. This was way too expensive for a product that does not do as advertised.
