Ratings may include incentivized customer reviews.
What Customers Are Saying
Customers overwhelmingly praise the exceptional stain-blocking performance and rapid drying time, with most reporting outstanding results on water stains, smoke damage, and knots in a single coat. Many appreciate its versatility across MDF, drywall, wood, and metal surfaces, plus its lack of strong odor. However, a notable group expresses frustration with defective spray cans—malfunctioning nozzles and inconsistent spray patterns render some units unusable. Despite this reliability issue, most customers consider the product highly effective when functioning properly and worth the investment for superior coverage and efficiency.

Would RecommendI have used at LEAST 20 cans of this because the shellac based sticks to anything and refinishing it works great as a base on repenting kitchen cabinets. BUT--out of 5 cans at least three will not work properly--the sprayer goes dead after a few swipes of paint on my project. Then it splatters. I have tried cleaning the tips and re-trying to no avail. I have WASTED at least 60.00 on defective spray cans as once you try them out? NOT returnable. But it sprays on smoother than a brush IF IT WORKS!...
I have been using Zinsser BIN for years. It is the best! I’ve always used brush on so this is first time to use spray on. Very satisfied with the results.

Spray can?!
Would Not RecommendI do not like having this in a spray can, at all. I spent 10.98 on this can and it only did 1/2 of my project! The only other option for this brand was almost $100. NEVER AGAIN!!! I'll be using Kilz brand from now on.

Horrible... Just Buy the Brush on Version
Would Not RecommendAllow me to attempt to describe what a horrible raging piece of garbage this spray can is. So first off I bought this to help refinish a project I'm working on and being very familiar with spray paint thought it could save me some time. WRONG. I opened this can followed the directions and began coating my piece. Within about 10 seconds an eruption of primer occurred splattering paint all of my project and my hands. So I cleaned the bottle thinking maybe I accidentally damaged the spray nozzle...

Ok
Would Not RecommendIt didn’t seal as good as I hoped. It tended to orange peal in spots.

Covers It All
Would RecommendGreat product and so easy to use being the aerosol. Had to prime a slick board with multiple stains of various products prior to painting. Spray goes on evenly and smoothly and dries very quickly. Able to put on finished product in less than 15 minutes.

Good stain blocker
Would RecommendI used this stain blocker as a primer to cover some discoloring due to water damage on a drywall ceiling. It went on easily and left a good finish. After top coating with latex paint, stain was no longer visible and hasn’t bled through. Used it also on some wooden cabinet doors to cover bleed through from some knots in the wood. Same results. Good product.
