The inside looks like composite, and the coating is what I believe is the wood look material. I walked over this with bare feet as well, and it didn't provide the feeling of splintering that sometimes happens with real wood. The quality of this board is superior to any type decking material that I have ever seen. It has a luxurious grain and a grayish look to it.
