Not great

These traps have killed two rats, caught one by its arm (I had to put it down myself), and another without killing it snd today I found the trap with an arm and no rat. So I’m disappointed that it is not more humane.

If you got them, this will get them!

This by far is the best trap on the market. Buy it, bait it and listen for the snap. It doesn't take long. Thanks for the product!

Killer Trap

Placed 4 traps outside yesterday, checked this morning and there are 2 less living fat rats running around. Used combo cheese and peanut butter mixed, one trap was tripped and one is still active, waiting for next victim. Will now put 3 activated traps in boiling water to remove scent and reload for continued use. Thanks

Never buy this

This is the third Tomcat trap of different types I have stupidly bought. This time also bought attractant gel. Not one of them has worked.

Something not right…

I have four Tomcat rat traps. They do work but not always and not always as expected. Twice I’ve had to deal with rats still alive in the trap. Lately, the bait (peanut butter) is disappearing and the trap is not being set off. This is a regular occurrence now. I’ve tried rearranging where the traps sit, etc. But to no avail. Bait keeps disappearing without the trap being set off. I’ve checked the trap action using a small stick amd it still works. I have no idea what is doing this or how wit...

These Work

I bought two of these and they work. The key is to put them in the path where you see the rats travel in order to efficiently exterminate them. Also, the traps do not always instantly kill the critter so give it a little time for the rat's life to expire before you retrieve the trap when you hear it set. I've previously tried bait stations and electronic traps and these methods have not worked for me.

Cruel and inefficient.

Waste of money. This is my first and last time buying this product.

Broke in less than a week

I bought this on 5/28 and second time I tried to set it on 6/1 it broke The thin, flimsy hinge eyelets broke so the top separated from the bottom.

Best trap ever!!!!

I bought my traps 2yrs ago. They worked perfectly. I even left them outside in elements for over a year. Even rusty they are still doing the job. I found the Rats in my neck of the woods are getting smart to getting the bait so I reccomend slapping a glob of peanut butter on the roof of the trap and scoop some delicious cruddy scrapping outta the bottom of the BBQ and stick that to the peanut butter....just wait and see.....thank you Tom Cat

Challenges

Traps could use a stronger spring. Had instances where the rodent drug the trap around and eventually got free. Short string to tie off the trap to structure would be beneficial as the trap with rodent was found some distance away.

Easy and effective

Traps are easy to use and reuse. Amazing how strong trap is.

Not a complete job

I had a rat under my deck and put this trap near it's entry point baited with peanut butter. On day 1, the trap got a chipmunk. I released the dead chipmunk and rebaited the trap with salami. On the morning of day 2, I found the rat in the trap still alive. The rat was kicking and breathing heavily. Who knows how long it was already in the trap. After a couple of hours of a kicking, breathing rat, I used a shovel to scoop up the rat and put it in a bucket of water so it would die more quickly. I...

worthless

I haven't caught a mouse in one yet. You can't beat the old style victor traps! I have had mice clean off the bait tray, peanut butter! and they licked it clean without triggering the trap. I recently purchase one of their profiled disposable bait stations. Ronnie the rat won't get close to it. Even in the middle of his path he goes around it. Save your money folks and go for something realistic. My grandfather used to spread mothballs around the barn and never had rat problems!

Heard rat screaming

We bought one yesterday, and it caught the rat within 15 min of setting it. However, it did not kill the rat. The trap was under our deck outside and we could hear the poor thing wailing for almost two minutes. It was horrible and I felt so bad. Being under the deck we could not easily get to it to put it out of its misery. I will not buy these again. Torture free kill not guaranteed.

Absolutely terrible..

If I could rate the slower than a one I would.. I bought four of them.. and every single one it keeps stealing the bait... it doesn't matter if I use cheese peanut butter or the little black stuff you buy in the bottle from them... still they still the bait.. I've had these traps for a month now...nothing... do not buy this is a waste of money...

Good at catching rats.....but does not kill them!

This trap is about 50% effective at killing rats quickly. I've caught about 6 thus far and it does not kill them instantly. Needs more force.

not instant kill. Rats are smart and may learn.

So far i have gotten 7 rats with the traps but not all of them died right away and they run off. You will have to look for the trap and maybe dispatch the rat yourself. One of mine was caught by the tail and ran under the stairs. I had to try to pull it out with a stick and it got free from the trap. Tomcat Rat Traps yesssss!!!!

I have a rodent problem under my deck, thought it was a mouse but set those wood traps and nothing then I ordered 3 Rat traps that can be reused and my boyfriend checked trap and wow we caught a rat. Dead instantly We bought 2 more and put the two under deck and under house. We used peanut butter as bait.

Very convenient to set

The problem with these rat traps is they seem to only be able to be used twice before they break I bought 10 of them and only two of them lasted longer than two settings
