Would RecommendI use this foam for building canoes and my three wheeler body. It cuts easily with a knife, saw or hot wire. You can glue it with Gorilla polyurethanes, wood glues, epoxy and even hobbyist hot glue! Epoxy 6 oz. cloth on both sides and it’s strong and light. It can be used as insulation I suppose,
This site and the Lowes system is wrong R3 not R5
Would Not RecommendLooked up this product on the site and it says it's R-5 went to the store, spent an hour there looking for it, even with the store manager. Can find it, they tell me to go to another store, that store tells us that this product does not exist. 1/2 inch is only R-3, have to by an inch for R-5.

R5 or Not??
Would RecommendNoticed a few reviewers questioning whether this is really and R5 valued product or something else...after all, the description says "R5". I'm gonna say it's an R3...mainly because that's what's stamped on the example photo.
how can the 1/2" be the same R-value as the 1"
Would Not RecommendThe DOW 1/2" material states R5, but so does the 1" stuff. I'd like an explanation from Lowe's or DOW. It would be great if you could get R5 out of 1/2" material but the even with the competitors product you have to go to the 1" stuff to get R5. I'm skeptical... :-( To clarify, I would recommend the product for all but its claim on the R-Value.

Would RecommendUsed as the underlayement for large ho train set on ply wood used also for the vallys and mountains hills connecting bridges , made to build up slops for a real affect for many train tracks works great easy to cut , glue for a clean install.
1/2 board is R3, not R5!!
This says 1/2 inch board of this board is an R5, look at DOW website, their 1/2" XPS unfaced board is only R3. Your not getting what your paying for!!!

Would RecommendWe put these boards under the siding on our home and now the room is the best room in the house. Cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Wish the rest of my house had it!
Other use for foam board
Would RecommendI didn't buy this for insulation. My wife wants to display items on top of the kitchen cabinets, but the crown molding on the cabinets blocks part of the view of the displayed items. My solution was the foam board. I cut it to fit the individual recess at the top of each cabinets, then cut long pieces to build it up until the items like steins, polish pottery, and other items are easy to see.
