Ratings & Reviews for SKIL 40-volt 14-in Straight Shaft Battery String Trimmer 2.5 Ah (Battery Included) (Charger Included)

Weedwhacker

It’s easy to use an lightweight. Does a great job.

Good String Trimmer

A little heavier than I'm used to, but the large battery, only 2.5 Ah, allowed me to trim more than my other trimmer with a 4.0 Ah battery

the batteries are poop

first battery I got with my first trimmer slowed significantly in about a year. only held half a charge. the trimmerhead went bad but it didn't have a receipt. I had other tools so I bought another trimmer. after 2 years the battery now only holds half a charge. I was just a month out of my warranty

Bad Battery

The battery doesn’t take a charge. I have to return this product. I can really say I like the product because I can’t use it.

broke within first year

purchased this in March only to have the cover on the head break. custom service informed me it's only covered for 90 days so I'm out of luck. cheap product, terrible company, will never purchase anything from them again.

Have gone threw 4 heads for it.

I have 2 of these. Bought the second because battery was almost as expensive as trimmer. The heads on them are junk. I have replaced them 2x and now they are getting hard to find. At $40 a head it adds up. I will have to go with a different brand this time but have 3 batteries for skil so that sucks!

Easy to Use

It's easy to use, has plenty of power, and gets the job done.

READ THIS BEFORE YOU BUY

After doing a bunch of research on electric string trimmers, I ultimately landed on this Skil 40V model. This is a really nice trimmer, with enough power to cut through tough Texas grass. The 2ah battery is good enough to last through trimming about a little less than a half acre property with lots of obstacles and sidewalks. If you also edge with this trimmer, you will have to charge in between. The bump feed head works really well and feeds line perfectly. My Skil trimmer and battery is now 5 ...

Skil Trimmer Fails after 8 months;Skil has no part

The reason I bought this Skil line trimmer was that it's identical twin stopped working properly after just 8 months (5 of which were during winter). We bought it because of the advertized easy loading of string. It was easy at first, but then stopped working. We called Skil but they don't have repair parts and did not offer to replace it. They said repair parts would have to come from a subcontractor. We called them and they didn't have the part. The reason I bought a second one was because the...

This will last for years!!!

Great weed eater. Replacement for exact same one that lasted for many years

Arm savior

Worth it,excellent tool. Definitely a must for lawn care.

I've had this trimmer for less than a month. It's heavy and awkward to use, and once the line runs out you're screwed. The "easy" slide thru line fill hype is just that, total hype. I will never even consider buying another one.

Nice Trimmer

This trimmer cuts nicely but it is a little heavy. I only charged it once and used it twice over two weeks. I wish it was a little lighter. I am going to put a strap on it. I hope that helps.
