Mechanism broke quickly, warranty won’t cover

I bought both the SKIL weed wacker and lawn mower last April. The mower works great, but the string in the weed wacker wasn’t extending. I tried restringing it only to find that the mechanism is broken so I can’t twist the head to reel it in. I called SKIL because I had registers the tool but they said this is common issue and not covered by warranty, so now I have to buy a different one. Extremely frustrating. Leaking Batteries

Item arrived at home through shipping with a battery that was leaking black goo. Took the item to local Lowe’s for battery replacement, and they would only could return/refund the whole product, not just the battery. I ordered a second unit after receiving refund and it arrived in the EXACT same condition. Cashed customer service and they worlds not resolve the battery and only suggested returning whole product at local Lowe’s for refund. That process took over 4 weeks to experience. Won’t ord...

Worked great....3 times

I was very happy the 3 times it worked. Battery life seemed decent, cut stuff as it should. Then I needed to replace the string. The arrows on the bottom were going to the wrong direction to actually load the string and at some point after reloading the head, one of the metal string guides flew out which stopped the string from feeding on one side. This caused it to become horribly out of balance which resulted in something in the head to have a come apart resulting in a "new" destroyed weed eat...

Underpowered trimmer

Compared to my Ryobi trimmer, this SKIL 40V feels very slow and underpowered. It works for light trimming, but struggles with thicker grass.

Oil leaked and bad battery

Used maybe twice, went to do my yard and found black oil had leaked out of some part to stain concrete in garage. Called customer service and they said not to worry it's safe to use. Ended up hiring a lawn guy that summer so the thing has been unused/practically new still. Decided to start doing my own lawn again last month. Now battery won't hold a charge. Probably a total waste. Don't even know if it's worth giving away.

Disappointing

First, this trimmer is made for someone who is at least 6 feet tall. I am 5'2". It is extremely awkward to use and very tiring. Second, it is supposed to be a dual line trimmer. When I change the line, it starts out dual, but doesn't take long for one of the strings to break off and I end up struggling with only one string.

SKIL trimmer is easy to work with!

It’s powerful, lightweight, and the battery holds a charge for a long time.

However it arrived two days later. I didn’t mind.

I was able to talk to chat agent to get my purchase routed for delivery to Little Rock Arkansas. I finally received my package and it looks like crap. Part of merchandise dirty and scratched up. I hate to return stuff so I went ahead and put it together.

Not as powerful as gas efgers

Good but not as powerful as gas edgers. Less torque & thinner string. Guess I’ll have to figure out how to make it work to my satisfaction.

Outperforms corded trimmers.
