Know the codes

Building codes now require GFCI plugs or breakers. The breakers are more than the GFCI outlet.If you are not an electrician,you would not know this. Same kit with GFCI is about $22 more.

Mostly good.

This was very easy to install by myself (60+ woman), no issues with getting the screws in for the cover. My only issue is that it doesn’t close completely. I wonder if I’m not seeing a catch or something? I bent a piece of wire to hold the cover to the inside area to hold it closed for now. Any suggestions?

Missing outlet

Jefferson City, MO Used the online order process. Had this weatherproof outlet and treated lumber. The outlet was missing from the weatherproof outlet kit and about 75% of the boards were bowed and one of them knotted up really bad to boot. Don't recommend Lowes online ordering at this store. They don't seem to inspect the material they set aside for the customer.

Almost everything included

I purchased this to mount under the soffit to plug in Christmas light strings. So the fact this is Not a CGFI didn’t matter. Like others, I found it difficult to hold open the springed cover while screwing the socket together. My wife provided the exra hands to hold the cover open. It would be better if the cover would snap into a fully opened position, for another reason, the cover pushed one of my plugs over enough to disconnect light string. The angled cover is not a good idea for outdoors...

Difficult to Install

All went well until I tried to put in the screws to hold the cover in place. Because the spring was so strong, I had a lot of trouble holding the screwdriver and the screw while trying to align the screw with the threaded hole AND holding the cover open. More hands would have been handy... In reality, the "door" needs a way to prop it open while you put the screws in. I like the old RedDot box with the sperate doors for each outlet. Otherwise, the box was well made and serviceable.

Nice looking, not designed well

I bought of these products for my outside outlets which I replaced. While I like the look of these outlets, I was not pleased that the sockets did not screw into the box like normal, they are attached only when you put the cover plate on. It looks like they gave me four screws to affix the sockets to the box, but there was only one screwed hole to take the screw for the cover plate. A few more holes on the box would make it more sturdy and permanent.

Great outdoor outlet!

I tried this outdoor outlet as I liked the way it could be installed, either up/down or side to side. I only needed 2 outlets so this one made sense. Quick and easy install. I just purchased another one for the back of the house.

Better than other designs to keep the weather out!!
