Shark Biter is affordable and easy to install

We needed to upgrade the washer and dryer water Connections in a house that we were selling. A friend suggested that I use the shark bite water installation kit. It was affordable and relatively easy to install, and it is attractive. I would recommend it to anyone to do this type of upgrade.

A Life Saver

My water supplies had been leaking for some time apparently. The old box needed to be replaced and this solution made it easy. No sweating copper water lines, super easy.

Pleased over all

It matched current configurations of our old washer box. We read reviews and were prepared for a little more difficult removal of plastic cap, but tapping with screwdriver did the trick. No leaks! That's the main thing. It passed the notebook paper test. Not one drop of water leaked.

Instructions kinda vauge to me

The way I read the directions you just punch out the section you want for the drain. Then I looked at the product and it doesn't just punch out and it is raise which I thought it would be recessed in case you had a drip on a hose the water would have a place to go besides the floor.

Installation was quick and easy. Seems like a sturdy box.

Disapppointed in over all quality

The punch out for the drain is only 3/4" and all washing machine drain lines are at least 1 1/4" o.d., some maybe more. Seemed like the punchout should have been bigger but it would not budge, afraid to hit it too hard as over all it is very flimsy in construction. Managed to cut it out larger with a skil saw but very difficult. The 2nd issue was the quarter turn shut off valve had no "stop". If you turn it too far it leaks through the top of valve. If you turn it just so, it will stop, but ...

Easy Peasey

Cut off old leaky spigots / cleaned 1/2" copper pipes / pushed the ball valve assembly with box. Voila! another flawless install.

Great Box

Being Shark Bite compatible a plus. The only possible negative is as a replacement the drain location may cause issues with the prior installation of the drain for the box being replaced.

I purchased a Sharkbite washing machine outlet box Sept 2014. Almost 4.5 years later, the cold valve would turn water on less than 50%. So I went to Lowes to buy a replacement cold valve. They don't carry them! So I bought another outlet box (the only model avail is 24763). It was different from my 1st outlet box, but I was only going use the cold valve. Oatey Box BETTER Design

Cannot have drain in the middle between the two valves. Most have valves on top and drain on bottom if drain is in middle. Oatey let's all three lines come in from bottom. Much better designed box. Took Sharkbite back and got Oatey Box.
