Not a rust prevention paint

The project im working on now is a large gooseneck trailer thats sitting outside, having used about 4 types of primer over the course of the restoration I can honestly say this is the best rattle can spray quality, but it has been the WORST at preventing rust in between coats, sometimes 3 or 4 days in between. Its been 3 days and rust has started penetrating the primer coat. Its so bad that even some of the finished areas that this primer was used on are showing rust through the finish coat. Whi...

Unreliable

Two cans started out fine then just stopped spraying while still three quarters full.

Thick

I found this product to be thicker than I expected, but the coverage is great!

Used to stop rust on a truck frame...great results!

Great Product

Easy to use and applies great to rusty surfaces. Read directions and allow to dry between re- coat. Would highly recommend!

Good base primer

I had some rust on my John Deere riding lawnmower. Ground away the rust and used this primer. To coated with Rusto-Oelum JD Green. The match was near perfect.

Excellent!

This primer has proven to be an easy-to-apply, fast drying, durable primer that lends itself well to DIY metalworking projects. Many times these projects sit and wait 'til I'm able to devote time to them and spraying bare metal after welding, bending, etc. keeps it from needing to be further prepped before final paint - preventing the pieces from rusting. It's money well-spent.

Great Product

I do a lot of restoration work and this product is top notch for anything rusty

First time paint prep

Seems to be holding a prime finsh in the out door elements.

Product worked very well. We appreciated the Lowes employee who helped us and made the recommendation.

Used it on an old wagon

I scraped off the old paint as well as I could with a wire brush. Then sprayed on the Rusty Metal Primer. Followed that with another Rust-oleum spray paint. It worked well. It will give us another year or two wear out of that old wagon. I was very happy with the results.

Good coverage at a decent price.

I liked this product however did find the same brand cheaper else where. It provided good coverage and was easy to use. I would definitely recommend.

As long as you prepare the surface for primer, the product works great

It just does what it is designed to do. Easy to use. Easy cap to get off

The spray tip cloggs too easily

After several uses with a substantial amount of time between uses, the spray tip clogs with dried paint and I haven't found a way to un-clog or prevent clogging. Maybe a redesign of the spray nozzle is required.
