Ok for basic fix

Purchased two of these for pair of lamp bodies I built, same wiring. One switch runs from initial on-on-off-off with firm valleys after quick peaks for casual use; the way you'd expect. The other must be balanced to an on position between off positions, frustratingly delicate. Don't know why for sure (Different bulbs; They ARE three position switches). Three wire (terminal) lamp socket

As others have mentioned, this is NOT for a three-way lamp (one bulb with multiple brightness levels). This is for an older-style lamp with a night light bulb in the base and a main light bulb on top. The threads on the lamp socket didn't fit my lamp, but I was able to pull the switch assembly out of the brass casing and fit it into the existing plastic housing without much trouble. Lamp now works. Used Youtube video to re-tie the underwriter's knot in the cord.

Light Buld holder

I bought this to replace an old antique lamp socket so my wife could turn the lamp on and off. For some reason I haven't gotten around to putting it on yet? When I get it installed I'll redo the review and let you know how it is working.

This product does not tell you that it is not a standard socket, we make lamps so we purchase lamp parts often, this is poorly detailed and after several attempts the best result possible is that you have to double click for on and off. DO NOT BUY THIS SOCKET!

This is a very high quality lamp repair part for a reasonable price. Lowes has a very large selection so be sure you pick the one matching the piece you are replacing. It was very easy to install in a lamp we have had over ten years.

Cheaply made

You get what you pay for. I bought this to replace a lamp socket that was damaged in my move. I replaced it but the new socket shorted the circuit out. It wasn't worth the gas to return it.

My wife's favorite lamp is restored. I'm a "hero". So is Gordon at Lowe's.

What happened to keeping things simple.

Bought as replacement for a simple on/off light fixture. Has third connection for hooking up a keyless light. Why?? You have no idea from the description on the blister pack you are getting anything other then a on/off switch.

Quick lamp repair

This item doesn't appear to be made with the quality of the original, but it works, and is easy to install. I would recommend this to anyone who likes their lamp too much to throw it away

Good Socket

I needed a grounded socket for a lamp in my living room. This one was exactly what I needed and easy to install. It's hard to find brass sockets (most are now plastic) and this one has an inner cardboard sleeve to protect the connections from shorting out.

This is just what I needed

This was an exact replacement for the failed lamp socket I needed to replace. The description by the first reviewer was so good that I knew it was the right one as soon as I read the review. The unit installed as it should have and works just fine.

FYI - this is NOT a standard turn-knob socket

Do not purchase this socket if you are looking for a simple, turn-knob, on-off style of socket. This is actually a specialized type of 3-way switch with a third screw on it. The third screw feeds a switched jumper wire to a second slave socket. This allows you to have two standard (non 3-way) bulbs in two sockets which are controlled by a single 3-way type of turn-knob. 3-Wire Socket

I found it extremely hard to find a socket of this type anywhere. This socket controls the light plus a nightlight in the base of the lamp. It was nice to know that Lowes carries these. It works great!
