Plastic brown light switch knob.

I needed a replacement brown knob light switch for a table lamp Couldn't find one, so I bought the lamp socket and used the knob as a replacement. Worked fine.

Perfect lamp socket

The lamp would not come on without flickering, so we bought this Portfolio Three-way 250 watt polished brass lamp socket, and our grandson come over to see us, and I ask him if he could put this in our lamp. He took it and he and his dad had it put in the lamp in a short time. It works so good and does not flicker. Thanks for this product.

Perfect

This item is getting hard to find in other chain & independent hardware stores, but LOWE'S has it! This repaired my wife's favorite lamp, and as the saying goes... happy wife, happy life. I admit to being a bit disturbed by another review pointing out this is not a standard-type lamp socket. Of course it isn't - the package is VERY clearly labeled on the back "For use with lamps with a main and secondary light" and "2-circuit socket". Lamp socket

Was a one way socket but a two way switch. On on off off.

Lowe's brass lamp sockets have always been great workmanship at a great price. My only problem is that I needed someone to be in Hardware to tell me how to put it on the lamp! Thank you!

Odd item, badly labeled

This is not a "thee-way" socket in the usual sense, but rather an odd socket that can be connected to another "keyless" socket so the switch on this one controls both lamps, in an A-AB-B-off sequence. One might think that if this odd configuration is not what one needed one could just ignore the third terminal on the socket (intended to be wired to the second lampholder) and use this by itself. But because of the switch sequence, it would then take two click of the key to turn it on and two cli...

Finally I found the correct socket!!

Even though it says 3 way socket, it is actually a 2 circuit lamp socket. This lamp socket is designed for lamps that have a second light attachment. i.e a lamp with a night light included. It is exactly what I needed for a lamp I have had over 30 years!!!!!

Item 71193 is exactly what I needed

I have a table lamp with a night light. This replacement socket is what was needed to repair the original one that wore out. Installation was easy using a little common sense. I also liked the online lookup telling me if the item was in stock.

This line of products is completely confusing

I purchased #0071193 today. The package simply said "Turn Knob Socket". I assumed it was a simple socket replacement. Not so. The instructions included a wiring diagram that had nothing to do with the product. Showed five connections. Clearly only three on the product I purchased. It would have been great if the product packaging would have said Three-Wire Socket, which I noticed on my receipt.

Why not label properly?

Now I know why what I thought was a simple lamp socket was $1.50 more expensive than Home Depot: it's not simple, it's not what I wanted, it's not labeled as to what it really is. Wasted my time. Back to Lowe's to return and then to Home Depot to buy what I need. :-(

Good Purcchase

This three-way bulb brass socket was easy to install. The knob extension provided with the product makes it surprisingly easy to turn the light on and off - an unanticipated benefit.

Frustrating and Cheap

Most lamps I've repaired have simple crimps that use friction to hold it together. This one has been crimped so hard the tabs have pierced the inner sleeve. Spent far to much extra time trying to get the "crimped sleeve" out. The switch feels cheap. Not expecting much out of it.

POORLY ENGINEERED

Purchased this lamp bulb switch to replace a 3 way bulb. Wanted to install a low voltage LED bulb and do away with clicking two times to get the light to come on. This switch merely clipped off the inner contact off and it still requires turning the switch two times to activate or deactivate the light. I.E. I could have done the same thing with a needle nose pliers - reached in and broke out the middle contact touching the light bulb and saved myself 7+ dollars.

Very poor directions

The socket wasn't what I expected. It was very difficult to open and it did not include a third wire that had to be used. It was not the same as the one I wanted to replace.

Works as it should

The only reason for 4 stars is the direction are not that clear. I inadvertently put the wires wrong. No damage to the socket or fuse but it did spark when I tried to plug it in. (shocker) :( No i didn't get shocked and after switch the wire all is well. I will go with high quality and durable but i have only had it a week I can't honestly say how durable. Regards Gman
