Would RecommendLight blue vs black is critical for an average homeowner. I got MUCH better results with the blue lid as it has less glue in it. Add a little water for the finish coat.

Good for patching and top coating.
Would RecommendThis works well for top coating and patching drywall. It doesn't shrink like all-purpose compound and is easier to sand. It should have a small amount of water mixed in to bring it to a good consistency and eliminate air pockets.
