What Customers Are Saying

Customers overwhelmingly praise these lag screws for exceptional holding strength and reliable performance in demanding wood projects. Reviewers consistently highlight superior grip in heavy-duty applications like securing 4x4s and mounting heavy items, with the large head design eliminating washer needs. The Torx drive system prevents stripping and cam-out, making installation smooth with an impact driver. Most note that pre-drilling pilot holes in hardwood ensures success, and proper tools are essential. A few experienced minor issues, but the vast majority consider these screws highly dependable and worth the investment.

Bad screw for green treated 6x6

Would Not Recommend

I bought a bulk box of these screws for a 10x20 shed platform using 6x6 green treated. I was using a dewalt drill and got them all started one inch in the wood to space them out. I then went down the line finish drilling the in. I was able to get 20 of the screws in with a random 10 screws strip out 7 inches down. They stripped so bad I had to snap them off and go with another brand. These may work on a softer wood but don't recommend for any large green treated wood. I went to return the strip...

These are Fantastic

Would Recommend

I chose these to use to attach my deck posts instead of standard galvanized or stainless lags. When you factor the cost of a standard lag and a washer (washer not always necessary) these are about the same price. When you factor in that you dont have to pre drill holes these are a clearly superior product. The only issue I had was figuring out the correct star bit to use. You have to use a T27 star bit or they wont go all the way in. I will never buy another galvanized or stainless lag bolt...

Impact drive is important

Would Recommend

I've used a lot of these over the years, mostly on decks. I put a few into a VERY hard tree when building a treehouse and they stopped about halfway in. I got out my BIG impact and they went in a little further. I had to take them out and pre-drill, then they went in like butter. I was a bit surprised that the big impact didn't break them or strip out the bit. Usually I put them in with a DeWalt 18V or a 20V impact driver and they go in with no trouble. The key, I believe, is using an impact dri...

Cheap Soft Metal with a Nice Bronze Colored Finish

Would Not Recommend

I bought 8 of these at Lowe's for attaching a banister to a post. The first 3 went in like butter. The next two must have hit a denser part of the post or a knot .. as soon as there was a bit of resistance the drive bit stripped the star hole in the screw head .. now I have two lag screws that have nice round holes and the round head does not lend to the use of a wrench to complete driving them in. At $2.00 a pop, they are not worth it!

Not Good

The head stripped right out on the first one. I returned the remaining screws. At over $2.00 each I was expecting much better.

Aggressive threads

Would Recommend

I like this product because it has very aggressive threads making it easy to drive w/o pre-drilling. They also save me money due to the large head the most of the time does not require a washer. I only wish Lowes had a better selection of lengths available.

Tough screws!

Would Recommend

I've twisted off more old fashioned lag bolts than I can remember. I bought a few of these to beef up a gate hinge and was delighted with them. I've used them a few times since then, every time they drive in easily, look good and pulled everything together nice and tight. Be sure to get a Torx bit to fit them, chuck it into a 1/2" drill and these things will go in like magic. The Torx will usually never slip.

Simple to use and look great

Would Recommend

These lag screws are easy to use and work great. Used them to secure my new main breaker panel and also used them in the past to secure metal banister to hard wood flooring. Very strong and large head covers slotted holes without the use of washers.

Great holding power

Would Recommend

Holds great. Used these on our basement stair railing to hold the posts to the stringer. Even though screw has a self drilling feature, I had to drill a pilot hole the help get it started and also to help get it all the way into the boards. It will take an impact drill to get one of this length into the wood and is still difficult. The only real negative is the cost but I did not need many for this job.

Best again

Would Recommend

NOT "Irritated Customer" this time. Having used this type lag screw before, I have now used additional of same to secure treated plywood deck onto treated 2x4 joists of ramp that I built into our storage building. They are available in various lengths, have superior thread with self-drilling tip (although drilling pilot hole prevents splitting wood member), and torx-type head allows plenty of torque for tightening.

Secured floor joists with ease

Would Recommend

In repairing subfloor damage in our bathroom, I needed to add extra support for laying the new plywood subfloor. I used a handful of these to strap together treated 2x8's to the existing joists. The finish was uniform and the cutting threads sharp, allowing the screws to bite and cut quickly into the wood without pre-drilling pilot holes, and the Torx-30 design guaranteed a fast, slip-free drive to the finish. Ceramic finish coating for use in outdoor and treated-wood applications. Definitely ea...

Good alternative

Would Recommend

Good alternative to galvanized lag bolt in some applications. Make sure you have the correct star bit, otherwise it will not grip and may strip the head when you put some torque on it.
