What Customers Are Saying
The Poulan 18" Pro Chainsaw appears to have mixed reviews. Some customers report it works well for occasional light use, cutting through small to medium-sized trees without issue. However, many others experienced significant problems, including difficulty starting and keeping the engine running, the chain frequently coming off the bar, lack of power, and durability issues, often requiring multiple returns. The consensus suggests this may be a suitable option only for very light, occasional use around the home, as it may not be reliable for more demanding tasks.

Would RecommendI purchased this chainsaw after reading initial reviews early last year. When it work it does work well; however, with any regular use it will break down. I will be returning my 3rd one since April of last year and most definately will be switching brands. I use the chainsaw to cut down trees for firewood. 2x returned for stalling out whenever you try to do the top speed setting or deciding to Rev up to that on its own and 1x for the bar nut refusing to stay on the bolt. -Happened a few times 2/...
Total piece of garbage.
Would Not RecommendNot even two hours into the project and the saw overheated and the plug was shot. And yes the gas was mixed 40:1. I have owned two Homelites and one Craftsman and both lasted over 20 years. It took two grown men to get the spark plug out and the electrode was fried. Upon return my complaint had to be "validated". Utter piece of junk. Run away. Returned it and bough a Husqvarna 440E should have done this in the first place
Won't last.
Would Not RecommendI purchased a Poulan Pro 14 inch chainsaw 2 years ago. I had problems with it starting from the start and took it to the shop three times to get it working. After using the saw for no more than 10-11 hours use, the saw would not start again. The repair shop checked the motor and said it had no compression and would be a waste of money to repair. Will not buy another Poulan chainsaw! I have had 2 so far and both lasted for no more than 3 years before useless.
Very Poor Quality - Not worth the frustration
Would Not RecommendGreat customer service at Lowes

Poulan chain saw
Would Not RecommendReturned a 14" because it wouldn't start--my son-in-law had the same problem--spent about 3 hours trying to get it to start and then run--have to see how this one works--the pull handle is smaller--the adjustment tool is cheap--I will see how it cuts--I own an older model 16 inch which is why I went with this brand--we will see

Worst chainsaw on the market
Would Not RecommendI purchased the product, made six cuts with it prior to the engine seizing. I returned it back to Lowes without any hassle.

Good, however ...
Would RecommendI have never used a saw that threw its chain as often as this one does. I don't know if the chain or the bar was defective, but after every few cuts the saw would throw the chain. I pulled the bar off and checked it with a laser to determine that it was true. The chain itself had a few links that would bind in the bar instead of passing smoothly. Occasionally, one of the links would bind at an angle instead of lying flat. An experienced forester told me that some new chains have so much varnish ...

replace two of the saws
Would Not RecommendI must had two bad saws. first saw we got as an home warming gift. the gas cap we could not remove it. N I didn't cross thread it. The second one worked great for a year until the clutch went out. Took it back to the store and replaced it with a real saw. Buyers beware, you may be rolling the dice. low quality
This saw is poor quality. I had poulan chainsaw for 20 years as a backup saw and was much better. My advise is if you are going to use this saw very much spend more on a higher quality saw like a stihl or an echo

Good Chainsaw
Would RecommendThe chainsaw worked as I expected. Easy to use. Lost chain once and it wasn't too hard to get back on the bar. I had a Poulan Wild Thing previously and this chainsaw is very similar and probably a little bit better. It is certainly adequate for a homeowner and relatively small trees that need cutting.

First one didn't work
Would RecommendI bought the first one and it was a manufacturer reject. It didn't work. I exchanged it less than an hour after purchase and the second one works just fine. Cut down a stump to ground level with no problems.

It's a good saw. It's my second poulan pro, the other lasted 10 years. I was a little dissapointed that this one doesn't use the wrench less feature like my last one, I liked that

Ready to Do the Job
Would RecommendI purchased this chain saw to cut down a dead pine tree on my property thinking that the 18 inch blade would be perfect for the job. It started right up and easily took care of the smaller branches. However, it kept shutting off once I got to the thicker trunk section where it seemed to work harder. This saw works great for the smaller jobs. But if you have a tree with the trunk wider than the size of the blade, then you need a different saw.

Worthless product
Would Not RecommendMy wife purchased this product as a gift for me a couple years ago. I have used it a total of 4 times before it completely quit working. From day 1 it was difficult to start, but I didn't think much about it. Last week I brought it in to a repair shop. Yesterday I received a call stating the chainsaw was unrepairable due to a bad engine cylinder which caused no compression. I would not recommend purchasing this product.
Poulin saw
Would Not RecommendThe saw is difficult to keep running when a load is put on it. The fuel is fresh with the proper mix of oil so not sure what the issue is.

Not bad for your $$
Would RecommendI bought the saw to replace a 15 year old Mac. that I wore out. I gassed the saw up, pushed the primer 6 times like instructed, pulled the choke out and it started up on the 2nd pull. It's not a real power house and bogs down when forced. When you race the engine it has a vibration when not cutting. It's great for smaller cuts. I dislike the bar adjustment on the cover making it hard to replace the cover unless it is lined up.

Good for the price
Would RecommendI have had this saw for 3 months now. I have cut down trees up to 16" across without a problem so far. It starts and runs great every time I use it. I do have to pull it a few times more if I use it then shut it down for a bit. But after it warms up, the sawdust pile gets bigger. It is not a professional saw by any means, but for the occasional user, it is fine. The extra blade is nice to just throw on and keep going, then sharpen them when you are done. Compressed air works great for blowing it...
Love Lowe's and most of the management staff are excellent… BUT this chain saw which is better than past ones lacks a very important ingredient… BAR OIL, Thus had to make another trip back to Lowe's to buy some...

Junk!
Would Not RecommendI should have just stayed away like most comments here advised. Same issue like many others have complained about.. it will run for 1 tank of gas ONLY, then will not start after refilling the gas - Good thing I had my electric one handy and was able to finish the job. When it turns on, it cuts GREAT..that's about it.
