What Customers Are Saying
Customers overwhelmingly praise the cedar mailbox post for its attractive appearance, durability, and natural weather resistance. Many highlight its rich color, aromatic scent, and curb appeal, with reviewers noting it feels sturdy and well-built. The cedar's insect resistance and rot durability are frequently valued, especially when sealed or stained. However, many note the post falls short of USPS installation standards, requiring extension or modification. A few mention inconsistent workmanship like splinters or rough surfaces, though most resolve these with basic sanding. Overall, reviewers consider it a worthwhile choice despite dimensional limitations.

Get ready to buy one.
Would RecommendI liked cedar post over the pine post. Had to install because of post master requirements.

A little short
Would Not RecommendThe post looks good. Construction quality is not the best, but that is not the biggest issue with it. It is too short. From where the mailbox sits, to the bottom of the post, is 55.25 inches. The USPS Installation guide states a mailbox should be installed 41-44 inches from the road surface. So, if you were installing this in a surface even with the road, this would leave 11.25 - 14.25 inches of post to put in the ground. If you have a curb, you might have a little more. If you have a slope lea...
With a few deck screws, it's perfect!
Would RecommendThe price was right and it's the perfect length if you follow the specifications from USPS about how deep to bury the post. The securing nails were insufficient to hold the post together long term so I reinforced those with deck screws. It looks even better than I'd hoped it would.

A good replacement
Would RecommendNice wood post for mailbox. I had reinforce the support because it was loose and would move side to side. Used Deck screws to secure it and then added my large size mailbox. It is solid and secure.

Do not buy unless you want a project
Would Not RecommendWe purchased this because our mailbox broke and we were desperate to replace it quickly to get our mail. The pieces are affixed with minimal nails and are very loose and wobbly with big sloppy gaps in between the wood, the wood is ripped and ragged around the cross joint, and the main post has a giant crack running up the front. It looks like cavemen slopped it together using primitive tools! I would happily pay more for a wood mailbox post of higher quality and better workmanship. I didn...
Beautiful Post
Would RecommendThis mailbox post is a beautiful cedar color, and very sturdy. Had to add some 2.5" patio screws to the 45 degree board to strengthen it - it was barely connected with some loose nails. But, once I strengthened it and tightened all of the joints it is a very solid mailbox post. Paired it with the #5117584 mailbox.
Good product.
Would RecommendLucked out looking for this mail box post and could not find one. Went to Lowe’s and the employee told me the store just got them in today.

Quality Cedar Wood-beautiful stained or unstained
Would RecommendThis is a Cedar wood! I don't know why they just call in brown wood. Some portions were a bit rough but easily hand sanded down. I stained with Cedar color stain and though it changes the hue significantly, it looks gorgeous. I also dressed it up a bit with some decorative hardware too.

Nice Cedar but sloppy workmanship
Would RecommendIt's the only cedar mailbox post I could find at the big box stores in stock but workmanship is pretty lacking. The handful of nails felt insufficient, finish is rough (not sanded), the cross lap joint is sloppy, there's significant tear-out around the joint, and the 45 brace isn't cut or installed square. After pulling all the nails to fully disassemble, taking a quick pass of 120 grit with the belt sander on all faces, truing up the 45 brace ends with a miter saw, and reassembling using Spax ...

DON'T ORDER ANYTHING FROM LOWE'S TO BE DELIVERED!!
Would Not RecommendThe mailbox post was delivered damaged. It was dumped on the side of my garage late at night after delivery hours, attached to a big wooden palette. I tried calling the store several times the next day when I discovered it and no one answers, I was just left on hold for a long, long time. I finally drove to the store and spoke with a manager. He said he scheduled for the damaged post to be picked up the next day and a new post delivered to my home. It has been 3 days since then and NOTHING HAS H...
