Ratings & Reviews for Owens Corning Oakridge Estate Gray Algae Resistant Architectural Roof Shingles ( 32.8-sq ft per Bundle )

curb appeal wow

Quality

I bought this for my shed and it Looks so good I will be putting it on the house next.

Big Gray Blob...

...that's what my new roof looks like! There is very little definition in the shingles and the color is uniform, not as many high/lows as appear online (yes, my contractor did choose from several bundles to add variety as he applied.) I did research online and viewed the shingles at the store before purchasing, but the application is very different to the images I saw including the sample board at Lowes. Looks like I'm stuck with a ho hum roof which is really disappointing considering there are ...

Patch Job

We needed to patch our roof from a tree strike and my previous roofer never left me any spares. We picked up the samples we though looked close to our current color. Since is was a different manufacturer and the roof was 6 yrs. old, we figure color matching was the best idea. The Oakridge Estate Gray Slate we almost an exact match. The only other barrier I had to cross was the new metric size of these shingles. The old ones were 36" x 12" and the new ones are 39" x 13-1/4". I tried to match the ...

Oakridge Shingles

These shingles have been on my house for about for three years. I had to buy two bundles for some repair to the roof. Existing shingles show some ware on the edges already. I hope they make it the expected life of thirty years. The cost of the two bundles makes me very glad I'm not replacing the entire roof. I was Very surprised at the increase cost per bundle over the three year period .

Not worth the additional cost because.........

We purchased our house in 1998, it had been built in 79. Being in desperate need of a new roof, that became our first goal. We researched the shingles and thought this long life dimensional shingle would be a cost effective choice. WRONG! The shingles are well made, they do hold up well through high winds. We have been through two years of severe weather and tornadoes with little roof damage. The problem with this shingle is the warranty doesn't cover substandard installation. I have not encount...

Extremely Pleased!!!

I recently started to expand my small business and have gotten into the roofing side of construction. While I have been doing roofs for about 20 years for friends and family the market came calling and I now do them on a regular basis. The Owens Corning (OC) brand is by far the best value on the market. I have gotten quotes for contractor pricing at other area supply stores and Lowes in Kenosha WI has always beaten the competition, always. Very pleased with the service and knowledge of staff.

Great Product

We had a three tab installed on the house put on by previous owner 15 years later they started to curl so we decided to put this on, WOW they look great went up easy and just works well, A couple of rain storms with them and everything went really well. We did this job our selves an the hardest part of tearing off the old stuff.

Not Gray

The Oakridge Estate Gray shingles are amazing. They are easy to put on (so much easier than 3 tab) and look fantastic. Very pleased with my choice. The color of the shingles are not really gray, however. They have a very heavy bluish/green hue to them. Mine came from the Memphis factory, so maybe it's just a factory thing. Just make sure you look at the shingles in the store before you have them delivered or you might be surprised by the color if you're expecting gray. Also, when the roof got ...

Easy installation, great look

If you are thinking of installing 3 tabs the cost you save is not worth it. These are so much easier to install and the look is fantastic. Lowes discount on quantity is good.

Good product, a little hard to adapt.

This is a good product. It lays down well and holds. It is not a three tab design, so the starter course is better completed with a starter strip rather than cutting shingles. Same goes for the ridge cap. The multi-layered design for cosmetic affect looks great, but needs a lot of trimming if making your own ridge cap.

These shingles are the best !!

What a great looking roof. I am the envy of the neighborhood. Looks absolutely fantastic, will wear great and I am very happy. Great product for the money and well worth every cent!!

Excellent Look

I had 41 square of these put on my roof and I absolutely love them. They look great and I would recommend them to anyone. They are certainly not the cheapest shingle out there but they are one of the best. They dramatically changed the look of my house.

Great Shingle!!!

We had Avalanche Roofing Contractors of Spring, Tx install these shingles for us and the roof looks great!

Look good

Installed 32 squares (3200 sq. ft). of these shingles last June 2010. So far, no complaints. Lowes put them in my front carport with a forklift last Easter for their nominal delivery fee. Then, kept them in the shade (under 110 degrees) until I was ready for the roofers on June 9th 2010. Living in hurricaine territory on the NC coast, did my homework. Consumer Reports rated this Owens Corning Oakridge shingle #4 (best buy rating also) on their list of a total of nine recommended asphalt shingles...

Very sweet product

I had my old three tab shingles removed from the house and had Owens Corning Oakridge shingles installed. WOW what a diffrence. This product really makes our house look great. We selected the Estate Grey because it has a blue tint to it. The result complements our dark blue shutters. So far this is a sweet product, and priced under $25 bucks a bundle for a 30year algae resistant shingle is fantabulous! A huge winter storm is comming our way this week. We will see if we stay dry!
