Goe on smoothly.

Hadn’t thought to use laquer until a friend suggested it . I was and stil am amazed how well this product makes the wood in my projects stand out. Excellent stuff!!!!

Not for beginners

I've put several coats on several different varieties of wood and sized objects, using a new Purdy natural brush. I used single pass techniques and various loading of the bristles. No matter what I did would end up with runs/streaks or other blemishes. All of my youtube searches indicate there are several steps required after application to end up with a smooth finish.

Tough Finish, no Brush Marks

I don't have a spray system and was getting tired of brush strokes and bubbles with virtually every type of polyurethane. Caveat: DO NOT BREATH FUMES, you will fry your brain and bubble your liver! Wear an appropriate 3M mask and/or go outside.

self leveling

clear brushing lacquer is amazing. It's self-leveling and finish is a great. No 220 between coats really saves the labor. have ran thru hvlp as yet. Great for the small jobs or touch up

exceptional

Needed a clear for DIY drawers and this was found to be perfect. It laid down nicely and dries fast.

Too uneven, fast drying for larger items.

This worked very well on smaller items. It drys (partially) very fast so you have very limited time to brush out. On a larger item like a table this results in uneven or a blotched finnish.

You do not mention

You do not mention on your web-site or printing broachures , that this product should not be used over a polyurethance. Melts urethance plus paint right down to the bare surface.

Use with caution

I have used similar products, bought in 5 gallon containers. This stuff is super difficult to apply with good results. It is very toxic, so a respirator is a must, as well as explosive, so no flames or sparks. The application temperature has to be cool as it dries right out of the can. Usually sprayed, it would dry coming out of the sprayer leaving crystals on the surface. Any contaminants, like oils or wax, cause little fish-eyes and other uneven results. Dries too fast - Only use on small parts

This is my first time using lacquer. The small parts i completed with an expensive brush turned out ok. Moving to larger pieces (12"x68") left horrible orange peel and what looks like small drops. It simply dries too fast and I even tried to thin it starting with 10% thinner moving up to almost 50% and it was still drying too fast using a brush. I'm not sure what to do at this point other than sanding it all back down and using something else.

Dont use with Minwax gel stain and zinser sealcoat

Used zinser sealcoat, then minwax coffee gel stain. Everything was going well until i put this lacquer on. It immediately lifed the stain off the wood like nothing ive ever seen. Call Minwax, they were defensive, saying i must have put on too much stain, then i must not have let it dry log enough, then settled on how i should NEVER use a sealer under a stain. Works great

I've used Minwax Lacquer for years. As a relatively new wood turner, it suits my needs when made up with thinner to make a sanding sealer and then a full strength coat for a base, dries quick so I can continue.

Great product, easy to work with and very nice finished product.

The spray is a little easier to use, but still a good product. Looks very nice as a finished product.

Very durable great finish

I have used this product on many wood furniture restorations and custom wood countertops in my rental I made, works great very durable, I have not relacquered my countertops in 3 years and it’s stood up against a few tenants. I would definitely recommend.

Miniwax laquer

I purchased this product to apply a LPHV spray onto a dining table I was refinishing. Although this is not specifically made for sprays, it worked pretty well. I cut it with 10% lacquer thinner and had no problems with application. The only shortcoming was I wasn't able to achieve a total high gloss finish but with a little 2000 and 4000 grit polishing, we got pretty close to what we wanted. at the end of the day, our customer was thrilled.

Kind of hard to brush on. Takes forever to dry to the point it doesn't stink.
