Low Price Door

I bought a whole pile of this type of door when I built my house. Something everyone needs to remember is the price of these solid core doors. If you know how to work with doors, these are good and will save you a lot of money. If you have a contractor installing them for you, he will charge you more and you will not save money. I build doors now and to build a good door, it cost more than double. So, these are good for the cost, but more money will get you a better door.

Garbage Door

Installed 5 of these a year ago bc my wife liked the craftsman style 3 panel door. Now, I'd like to point out that I rarely write reviews and it's an even rarer occasion that I write a negative review. But the overall horrendous quality of this door made me so angry that I even wrote to Masonite telling them how embarrassed and ashamed they should feel producing a shoddy and weak product like this garbage door. Product was missing most of the hardware, didn’t realize til it was already 2/3 installed and realized that’s why we had so much trouble

Quality Control

I have installed quite a few of these doors and the quality control is sub par. Hinges are not consistently set, screws are loose, bore is too deep, just a handful of problems that irritate you. Door itself looks nice but installing is generally tough. On the next house I will try a different door.

Could be packaged better

The doors were not taken care of and stored poorly. Two were completely crooked in the frame and not flush.

Doorknob hole bored wrong

I am so aggravated! I have spent the day driving to Lowes (45 minutes each way), bringing the door home and painting it and I am about to install it, only to find out that the hole for the knob has a backset of 2 1/8"...a full QUARTER INCH too close to the edge. GAHHHHHHHHH. I wish I had read the reviews--I am not usually one to miss them! I never would have bought it!

It’s ok

Not a bad door for the price. Only complaints are that the hinges are routered out too deep, throwing off the gap on the hinge side. Also, these doors aren’t packaged well and lowes seems to love to beat the hell out of them. Watch for chips and gouges.

The door looks great any my contractor said it was easy to work with.

Poor quality

The door is nice looking but overall quality is very poor. The frame is flimsy, and has cracking when installing the knobs. I would not recommend them.

Poor mortise quality control

The hinges were mortised too deep on the jamb and the doors on two doors I purchased. I wish I could return them. I was stuck with theses doors due to a customer changing what they wanted and the fact that I needed doors to match existing doors. I still have shimming to do to make these doors work. Pure crap.

Several cracks from installation.

I’ve purchased 5 of these doors. Installed the first one today with the help of a carpenter friend. Installation created a couple of cracks in the jamb, screwing in the latch plate made two more cracks. One with each screw. Installing the door knob created a crack in the door. Now the question is why? Obviously these are made of inferior materials. No way should all those cracks occurred. Deciding whether to return the rest and eat the loss of the first door or just repair each one on installat...

Bad mill work

Horrible experience, all the hinges were milled to deep to close properly

Bought 5 doors and all 5 were milled to deep on the hinges, had to completely remove all three hinges and add spacers just get them to close semi properly. If I could have found replacement doors in a short period of time would have taken them all back.
