Good to rough up a polished surface for tile
Would RecommendUsed to prime a polished concrete floor to accept mortar for tiling. I liked the coverage overall, but some spots did not adhere as well as I'd expected. Had to rough up the concrete a bit before it bonded well - kind of defeating the purpose. Polished nonabsorbent concrete was listed as a suitable substrate. Overall, the mortar seems to be holding up well but time will tell.

I used over existing tiles 2 coats then applied a water proof product which i had (redgard) then applied a high end mortar (Ardex77) NOT pre-mix paste out of a bucket. Ive used it over old 1950’s mastic floor tiles which were still stuck to concrete- have to use some common sense. Overall this is a great product!

Would RecommendWas not nearly as thick and heavy as it appears on manufacturer website or in application videos even after thoroughly mixing. Had to apply 3 coats on vertical surface to get adequate coverage. Having said that, it does appear to work as advertised. Just be aware.

Tiling over linoleum
Would RecommendI heard you can use Mapei EcoPrim over linoleum to give the grip to lay tile. I am here to tell you it works. I didn't want to take days removing and scraping up old linoleum and adhesive. The 16 x 16 slate tile I put down over the linoleum is glued down solid. Mapei rolls on easier than paint & cleans up with soap and water. I put two coats of it down, but have a feeling one would have worked fine.
