What Customers Are Saying
The reviews provide mixed feedback on the quality and suitability of the milkweed plants. Some customers reported the plants were contaminated with chemicals that were lethal to monarch butterfly caterpillars. However, other customers had success growing healthy, pesticide-free plants that attracted and supported monarchs. Customers are advised to exercise caution when purchasing milkweed and consider seeking out plants from local sources that can guarantee they are safe for monarchs.

All 6 monarch caterpillars died
Would Not RecommendAfter eating leaves from Lowes butterfly weed. Female monarch laid eggs and 6 beautiful caterpillars hatched within 3 days they were all dead.... Either from a disease the plant carried or from the pesticide used on the plant.. Fortunately there is no way to tell which is a good plant and which is not. I would not buy a plant that was ever subject to pesticide..suggest to Find a local nursery that does not use pesticides ....and organic is not the same as pesticide free.

Monarch Butterflies in danger
Would Not RecommendUnfortunately after my purchase I learned that this variety of Butterfly weed plant is causing illness to the Monarch Butterflies. Please research and buy only native plants. Florida native milkweed plants are available at native plant nurseries and seeds are available from the Florida Wildflowers Growers Cooperative (www.floridawildflowers.com).

Butterflies (and we) love them!
Monarch butterflies LOVE these plants, and their caterpillars do too! Ours came with eggs on them and the hungry caterpillars ate 5 of these plants to the ground, but they're coming back strong even so. Lots of fun watching the caterpillars turn to chrysali and then to butterflies!
