Ratings & Reviews for Kobalt 18.0-in Split Shaft Attachment Capable Corded Electric String Trimmer

Missing parts, Kobalt doesn't have them.

First off, it was shipped in its actual boxed and no additional tape was added on either ends so it arrived opened. Missing handle and bolt needed to secure the trimmer to the motor. Called Kobalt and the parts were not available until July(Over 8 weeks). Now I have to return it to Lowes. Probably won't reorder again as they raised the price.

meh

Did not include harness, does not tilt angle for edging, bulkier than anticipated. Did not eta weeds as well as other models tried

no way to order the strap

would have been nice if the shoulder strap was included , now I have to try to find a strap.

Easy to assemble!

This product is powerful and is exactly as described!

Happy with it

So far, only used it once, but it worked really well. I don't have a lot that needs trimming and what I have isn't really thick. That said, there was a patch that hadn't been trimmed in a while and the trimmer went right though it, so plenty of power for what I need.

Easy

Easy to use

Good buy

Well balanced, and powerful. I love the paddle-style safety switch and easy spool refill. One complaint, There is a mounting point and instructions for a strap, but no strap is included, and no way to order it separately.

Very hard to use

I had high hopes for this Kobalt trimmer, since the Kobalt mower I bought at the same time has met my expectations, but this trimmer is a big disappointment. It is heavy (for a 63 yo with bad shoulders) and impossible to hold at the proper angle for a good trim. I bought a shoulder belt but that made it even more awkward to hold at the right angle. Bump feed stopped working (not sure if it ever really worked). The instructions for fixing the problem were VERY hard to see and understand (again, f...

Parts are not easy to get

works well powerfull, I wanted a replacement head for another same unit, the store doesn't stock this so after the associate pulled up on the computer I see this unit on sale for a few dollars more than ordering a new head

Grass and weeds don’t have a chance.

This weed eater is amazing! It’s powerful, ruggedly built, well balanced, all the important parts are made from metal, even line feeds out like it should. I only wish it was a little lighter, I attached an optional carry strap that makes it much easier to carry around the yard. It’s one professional machine!

Almost OK.

On first appearance out of the box, well made. Easy to assemble and the parts look sturdy. Operationally, works as expected, with one exception. There seems to be a high pitched sound emanating from the head of the trimmer. I will definitely need ear plug, my ears are still ringing.

Only drawback is the cord. Amazing for small yard.

I saw this on sale for 60 bucks and thought to myself there was no way it could be any good, but I was intrigued enough to watch some reviews on youtube. In the end, I was convinced by the reviews to buy it, and it's been great. It's light, quiet, and doesn't vibrate enough to need gloves. It has all the power you'll ever need for trimming and edging. We used it after the first mow of the season on some thick grass and it didn't bog down at all. Only things I can think of that it might not be...
