Ratings & Reviews for Kobalt 80-volt 16-in Straight Shaft Battery String Trimmer

Had the first one for 6 years with out issue!

never has a gas weedeater last more then a year with out some type of issues-pull cord constantly breaking -hard to start -then when finally started smoke fumes etc,my first 80 volt kobalt weedeater went 6 years no problem until finally spool wore out wont hold cord anymore.instead of tracking down a new spool I just bought a new weedeater -batteries still going strong- A+

great weed trimmer

great addition to my kobalt 80v set works amazingly high quality and very powerful for getting tall weeds

Flawed intentionally

The string head on this is so difficult to turn that I purchased a replacement head,.due to I could barely wind it and my dad couldn't and it requires you to buy their string which breaks easily and uncoils when you try to use the pre wound string. Evidently they have a strong desire for you to buy there string. I have had this on a drill press trying to hold the screw so I can take off the opposite threaded head to replace with an Oregon head. Useless I have tried it in a vice with someone...

Kobalt works!

Use for small areas

Weak shaft

Had mine for a few years, all good. Unit is heavy and bulky... just recently while using it the shaft became bent, eventually developed a crack in the shaft...a short time later the shaft broke in half rendering the weed eater useless... can't buy a replacement shaft because they don't sell them...guess I'll have to buy a new one, won't be this one...

Works great

No cords

This string trimmer is large & heavy.

I like not having to use an extension cord, as I did with my old string trimmer. The freedom of cordless is nice, but the length & weight of this is somewhat of a drawback. It certainly does do the job, though, & I can recommend it for someone who can handle the size & weight.

Being Discontinued

This is my second one it works great but I'm sorry Lowes is taking the product ofe the it's the only battery powered weed eater strong enough to do the job

Weed eater

Recommend. Good power and cutting abilities.

Great product, BUT ....

Great product, two powers, all good ... until the guard breaks. Such a minor part but only the battery is more important. If you don't have a guard you can't use the trimmer safely. Don't bother asking Lowe's for a replacement they don't carry one; can't/won't order one. Kobalt service is a joke. Scripted human. Even after telling them I wasn't interested in warranty work; I wanted to pay to have the guard replaced; the human said, "I need the name of the company you bought it from and the...

Powerful but sloppy

I have the entire 80v lineup for my yard (pushmower, blower, trimmer, etc) and recently my 80v trimmer decided to pass away after 4 years of kicking butt on my yard. I decided to get this replacement after having a funeral for its predecessor. This trimmer arrived via mail since the store doesnt carry it in stock. Unboxing was easy, no issues. feeding the line was also easy, no issues. The trigger control was easy, still no issues. However, when the line hits the turf it chews right into the law...
