Piece of Junk!!!

Good idea gone bad. I love the freedom silence and clean operation of the electric motor. Problem: The head and the string. The whole thing gets jammed with fine sand and grass and stops working properly. The automatic string dispenser head just does not work!!! I have to clean the whole head with soap and water and toothbrush, while being careful to avoid water in the electric motor. And, then it will work for a while. And after one grass cutting, problem comes again. There is no real tech supp...

Horrible battery life, waste of money

Battery dead and red low charge in less than one year after purchase. Will take to Lowes for replacement battery. Poor quality. Edger is fine but lacks variable speed. I have many Stihl products that have been running for 15+ years w/o issues except plugs and filter once in a while. Wanted to try battery but if batteries do not last and are so expensive to replace, why would we buy these? More failed batteries to land fill. not environmental.

Nice Trimmer

Lighter than a gas trimmer. More power than an electric trimmer.

3 years, and still doing the job

I always had trouble starting gas trimmers so I bought this May, 2017. It's been great and has done the job even cutting taller weeds. Battery lasts to get everything done (200 feet of fence, both sides of 180 foot long driveway, around several trees, fire pit, and around the house foundation). I did lose the wire flower guard a few months but Greenworks sent me another at no charge. Others have commented about issues with the string and bump feed but I haven't had any issues.

Kobalt 40V trimmer

broke after one season, very poor service

Excellent trimmer when it was working. The spool cover cracked so had to order a new one. Took 3 weeks. Went to put it on and one of the tabs of the spool housing was also broken so no way to keep the cover on. Ordered a new one (Order Tree is terrible), took two months and sent the wrong part. When I finally got to talk to a person they said the part was not longer available. Supposedly had a three year warranty when we bought it so called Kobalt. Toy!

This is nothing but a toy posing as a useful yard tool. Within 30 minutes of use I had to dis-assemble the head twice to re-seat the wire. The tapping aspect top release string simply did not work. Also the metal shaft where the two pieces connect started to flare and then kept coming apart. Imagine the frustration as you are standing there holding two pieces of the unit because it comes apart. Then having to re-assemble that aspect of the tool as well. Mildy effective as a hacker and useless as...

junk

this is a piece of junk! if the battery dies it will not recharge and they are a $100 apiece. I've gone through 4 batteries and 3 chargers. spent enough to have my lawn professionally done for years!

Totally broken package and wrong status of order

I just received my order (Order#702179147) but the package is totally torn up with exposing the item. Please see the attachment for the condition of the box. The received item looks like a returned item and I can see some scratch through the broken box. Anyways, I don't want to accept this condition by paying a full price. Not Satisfied

The mechanics of the spring loaded bump feed doesn't work. It will not continue to feed new string into the trimmer for use.

Powerful battery, efficient unit!

I purchased this today at Lowes at a sale price of $99. I went to pick up a repair kit of fuel tubes and a button for my gas powered Bolens. I checked out the battery powered units and chose to purchase the Kobalt V40 and give it a shot. Setup was easy. I charged the battery for about 3 hours and assembled the unit in 5 minutes, (and I don't read instructions). Epic fail, Kobalt

Worst trimmer I've ever owned. Other Kobalt products work great. This trimmer's weight distribution is comparable to a gas-powered trimmer with a bulky top that's heavy compared to the base. Most other battery-powered trimmers are more balanced. The absolute worst feature is the dual string trimmer head. The 'bump and go' is really 'bump and stop.' The 'bump' button gets jammed EVERY TIME I bump no matter how much or little force I use. The dual string reel (Kobalt brand) cuts for about 10 feet ...

A step back from previous model...

I had to return my previous kobalt 40v (which was a beast it was the model this one replaced with two-speed selection and 2.5 AH battery with a big nice handle for my hands) the battery just quit charging which happens so i thought it could be an easy peasy get the battery swapped since it was just 5 months old. They couldnt do it and was told this one replaced it, but in terms of power its noticeably slower, the auto feed head doesnt work half the time and cones with the 2.0 AH battery instead...

Disappointed but hoping it gets better

First attempt to go non cordless with yard equipment so was very excited to try this. Pros: No cord, love that part. Broke after a few uses

Today was maybe the 4th time I used this and there was a loud bank from the head and now it shakes so bad I can't even use it and so much it shakes the guard right off. Something obviously broke in the head. Then the battery got stuck and would not release! Not worth $129 I paid for it, for sure. I'm not taking the head apart to find out what broke since I can't trust the battery to release either....

40 volt kobalt 13" String Trimmer

Don't waste your time or money. It's heavy, and not very powerful. The bump line never works.The spool on mine broke in less then 3 months. Lowes won't exchange it because it's been over 60 days. They never even asked what was wrong with it.The Kobalt website and phone center says 3 months. The warranty is for five years. Seems like Lowe's is changing their return policy's so I'll be taking my business elsewhere.

Seems like a solid trimmer, once set up

I bought this to replace a 7 year old cheap 12” 18 volt trimmer. I have a relatively small yard and so the 18 volt trimmer worked fine, although the battery was starting to fail. This 40v trimmer is massively better. I have used several gas 25cc trimmers and I am almost certain that this one is more powerful. Battery life seems to be as represented. The tool works good

I was impressed by the cut it has and it does a good job so no problem with the tool itself but upon receiving the product with a battery (2.5 AH) & charger I charged the battery and the charger was hot. I looked at the Charger and found out it did not support the battery that came with it. The battery gets hot after use also so I will have to go replace it before I give the 2.5 ah a rating
