Ratings & Reviews for Kobalt 227 -Piece Metric and standard (SAE) Mechanics Tool Set with Hard Case
Ratings may include incentivized customer reviews.
What Customers Are Saying
Customers overwhelmingly praise this tool set for its comprehensive selection, durable construction, and exceptional value. Most highlight smooth ratchets, reliable 90-tooth mechanisms, and extensive SAE and metric sockets as standout features ideal for beginners and DIY mechanics. Many describe it as comparable to premium brands and frequently purchase multiple sets as gifts. The primary drawback is the plastic case, with reviewers noting difficult-to-open drawers and poorly designed snap-in holders. Despite this flaw, most customers consider the high-quality tools and bargain pricing well worth the investment.

Would RecommendNice easy to carry and store, this set is great for the grab and go nature of the box. All in individual trays and easy to read laser etched sockets are easy to find. 90 tooth rachets are a plus and the selection of deep well sockets seems to fit most applications. The extra tray does come in handy for adding additional wrenches etc.

Product quality was great just a few wrong pieces
Would RecommendI was given a 3/8 wrench in the place of a 10 mm and the quarter inch drive 7/8 socket was not labeled but the quality of the tools were superb

Plastic box n tool oddities ruins this $99 deal
Would Not RecommendDrawers stick and wrenches also fall from the lid. When I am finally able to wrestle a drawer open it causes the sockets to move out of place. They cause the drawer to get stuck partially opened. I must then find a rod or pencil to move those sockets back into their depression / groove storage location in order to get enough clearance to fully open either drawer. The sockets wobble alot and seem to be oversized given the poor contact they have on nuts and bolts. I now see no reason to have so ma...

socket size is unreadable
Would Not RecommendI liked the selection of sockets, but I cannot read the size on the sockets. needed a lamp and lots of squinting to see the size. The $20 HF brand is easier to read. My sons DW set is better all around and has a much sturdier case. $99 was tempting but not worth it. Am returning tonight.
Great tool set
Would RecommendGreat value. Purchased this product on sale so it was a great value. The tool box is very nice with strong hinges. Upset that Lowes shipped a damaged item (before shipping) so returned it.

Pieces missing; flimsy case
Would Not RecommendBought this on 10/14/21, am returning it today 10/16/21. I was excited to get this set. I had a Husky set that the case broke and I lost pieces over time, as well as having to try and stuff sockets back into the broken case every time I used it. So this was going to be the replacement. After getting it home I opened up the packs of sockets and wrenches. My set was missing one wrench, one extension, and four sockets. I've no doubt that Lowes/Kobalt would make good on the missing parts. I like...
bunch of mechanic tools in a convenient case!
Would Recommend3 sockets! All the sizes of standard and metric! Extensions! Even spark plug sockets! Very versatile set for the beginner garage.
missing 18mm socket
tools are sutible quality, everything was there except a 18mm 1/2" drive 12point socket. toolbox very cheaply made, latch fell off 1st day but put it back on. Went to local Lowes to get missing socket replaced. was told i would need to bring whole kit back and exchange for another. Didn't want to go threw the time and frustration of putting everything back into box spaces, so i ended up buying the missing socket. buy this kit expect to be short pieces
