Ratings may include incentivized customer reviews.
What Customers Are Saying
Customers overwhelmingly praise this crimper for its ease of use, consistent performance, and innovative pass-through design that eliminates trimming excess wire. The ratcheting mechanism delivers clean, reliable crimps with minimal effort, while the one-squeeze crimp-and-cut function and built-in stripper streamline the terminating process. Most users report professional results and appreciate its precision and durability. However, some report recurring issues with pins 1 and 8 failing to cut fully, leading to loose connections. A few note blade wear after heavy use. Despite these concerns, most consider it a worthwhile investment for network installation and DIY projects.

Mixed Feelings About This Crimper
This crimper is limited in its use to the pass-through style RJ-45 connectors. Good thing I have a separate crimper for nonpass-through connectors as I use both in my job. Keep this in mind when purchasing the crimper, or the RJ-45 crimps.

Simple to use / solid crimper
Would RecommendThis is probably the easiest modular crimper I’ve ever used. Solid design, crimps well and really requires no effort to get the crimp done.

Easy to use, careful putting in pocket
Would RecommendEasy crimper to use, however the ratcheting feature is a little annoying when you put it in pocket, if it closes fully it has to open all the way, leading to it getting stuck in pockets sometimes. Stripper also doesn't quite reach a standard cat5 jacket, but still works fine

Solid Crimper That Makes Clean Termination
Would RecommendThe Klein Tools Ratcheting Ethernet Cable Crimper works exactly the way a good crimper should. The ratcheting mechanism gives a consistent, solid crimp every time, which makes a big difference when you’re terminating multiple cables. It holds the connector in place well and lines everything up so you’re not fighting the tool. The build quality feels very solid. It’s comfortable in the hand and doesn’t require a ton of force to get a proper crimp. I’ve used it on several Cat5e and Cat6 connector...

Doesn't cut wires #1 & #8
Long time supporter and user of Klein Tools, but the VDV226-110 Data Cable Crimping Tool has let me down. It has never cut wires #1 and #8 in a RJ-45 plug. Everytime I crimp a pass-thru connector, I have to clip the end wires. One would have thought that Klein would have simply made a wider cutting blade, but instead they made the VDV226-005 Data Cable Crimping Tool for Pass-Thru™, removing the RJ11/12 functionality. I have never had to use that part of the crimper, but it was nice to have it i...

Excellent with Klein Cat6A ends
Would RecommendWorks great with Klein pass through ends. Intuitive and easy to use, seems like it was built to last.
Must have for pass-though modular plugs
Would RecommendEasy to use and does the job well. I have some pass-through CAT6 modular plugs, before purchasing this new tool, I used an old crimper, but it didn't trim the extra wires that passed through the connector, so I had to cut them off with a plier. However, because I couldn't trim the extra wires off very cleanly, the leftover portion caused all sorts of connection problems as the plugs couldn't fit into network sockets tightly. With the new tool, everything worked out perfectly.
