Ratings & Reviews for IRWIN 4 -Piece 1/4-in x Assorted Woodboring Spade bit Drill Bit Set

What Customers Are Saying
Customers overwhelmingly praise these spade drill bits for exceptional sharpness and fast, clean cutting through wood. The short-shaft design is highly valued for drilling in tight spaces like floor joists and remodeling work. Most reviewers highlight outstanding value for the price, with many repurchasing or buying multiple sets. The hex shank works well with impact drivers. A few note the bits dull faster on hardwoods, and some wish for longer shafts or storage cases, but these minor concerns barely diminish overall satisfaction and strong recommendations.

Would Not RecommendNeeded a 5/8 bit, thought the four piece set might be a bargain. Wrong. The bit I really needed has over 1/8 inch runout - unsatisfactory for clean work. Will take the set back and shop for one good bit.
Drilling fence post
Would RecommendReally had no problem utilizing these for sinking holes in for set washers in the treated wood whether at 45 degree angles or standard straight on.
These bits chunked out the wood like crazy. :) Good purchase
great for drilling between floor joists
Would Recommendbought it to drill some holes through floor joists and they were just the right length to get between the floor joists with my Milwaukee 20v drill and just long enough to get through two 2x8 boards
Dulls Quickly
Would Not RecommendI bought this for a cub scout project. By the 4th hole through pine boards it was dull. I guess I have to pay a lot to get a drill bit that holds its cutting edge.

Good value needs a bit of upgrading
Would RecommendI love the size it is just short enough to help me on my drill press. My only problem is it lost its sharpness quicker than I expected. I have bought another to see but I didn't get more than an hour of use before it really went quite dull. But I do like the product and will buy more.
Irwin Spade Bit Set
Would RecommendThe product will not produce the smoothest holes but it is capable of cutting deep holes when compared to most hole saws.

Good purchase
Would RecommendWorks exactly how you would expect. Would be nice if they came with a little carrying case or something to keep them from falling into your tool bag. But overall exactly what I wanted. Reasonably priced wood drill bits
Great product
Would RecommendThe shorter shank made them easy to use in remodeling work
