Sharp, reasonably priced bit

Cuts a very clean, accurate hole. When hole depth got beyond 1.5" or so it required slower progress and clearing the chips out of the hole often. Bit can get very hot so watch your speed and don't let it get hot enough to draw the temper of the steel. This is a problem with all bits of this style however. I had to drill several holes through a mix of mahogany, sycamore, and cypress. Holes were from 1-3/4" to 2-3/4" deep, I took my time and gave the bit a break in between holes. I would not ...

Good bit for what I am doing.

Good bit at a local store. Needed a good bit for a small project I was doing for a craft show. I needed the holes in 3/8" oak to be of good quality when I bored them (no or very little splintering with a sacrificial backup board). It did what it should have done for a forstner bit and a battery powered 20V drill. Good job.

GOOD BIT...

Nice sharp bit and works just as good as more expensive bits. Drilled quite a few holes and it has kept it's edge.

Arbor for chubbier Birdhouse 'Harbors'

I purchased this arbor to go with the comparable set. This next size up, for larger 'plumpier' species worked very will. The material used was pine and I naturally go slow making the holes. This larger arbor worked very well, cleaned well during drilling and left a clean hole entrance for future birds. Very pleased!

Actually did the hinges on our cabinets with this and it worked wonderful!

Nothing Better

I needed to bore a 2" hole through 3 layers of 2 x 4 in my attic to run security camera BNC wires (8). My regular hole saws couldn't cut more than 2" deep, and took a lot of time to drill through 2" at that. This Forstner bit took about 2 minutes to get through 3 2 x 4's. I had a extension on my drill chuck to make the depth, otherwise the Forstner bit could easily bore through 2 2 x 4's on it's own. Purchased this product for a couole of DIY projects. It works great, leaving a very smooth and perfectly round hole. Highly recommend this product.

made quick work out of drilling holes for new gas line

Needs a hex shank, not round

I put a couple of holes in plywood and it was iffy. I had to go very slowly in my drill press. I cranked down so hard on the chuck to tighten it, I was almost unable to undo it. When I was boring/drilling the bit would spin in the chuck if I applied more than a slight amount of pressure. Not sure how it would do in pine, but I'd be afraid to try hardwood. Life would be better if the shank was hex and not round.
