What Customers Are Saying
This set of Forstner bits generally performs well for most woodworking projects, producing clean, smooth holes, especially when used with a drill press. The wide range of bit sizes is a key benefit. However, some customers reported quality issues like dull or damaged cutting edges, as well as challenges using the bits in a handheld drill. Overall, this is a reasonably priced and functional set suitable for hobbyist and DIY use, but may not meet the needs of professional or heavy-duty users.

Would RecommendThese are excellent bits. Bores thru pine like butter. Hardwoods need a slower feed and less pressure. Still need a backer board to prevent splintering on opposite side.

Irwin forstner bits
Would RecommendThese are nice bits. Far better than cheaper ones I have had. The serated cutters help keep the bit cool when cutting. I would suggest using a shop vac to help keep the hole clean. That will also reduce heat.

Not high quality
Would Not RecommendGreat price for a set of bits. Unfortunately they are all burred and knicked on the cutting edges. I've read other reviews about the set being of lesser quality than individually sold bits.
It has all of the most used sizes, great quality.
Would RecommendJust no issues, all the sizes at a great price. Should be here for years.

They cut well
Would RecommendI purchased the woodboring set for a prewire construction job. They cut well. They make a nice smooth hole and are just long enough to go all of the way through 2 2x4s or a 4x4. They do require a lot of pressure to get them started and will not cut through nails. The slower the speed of the drill the better they bore. but even at high speed, they will get the job done.

Nice, clean holes
Would RecommendI bought this set because it contained two of the bits I needed that were not contained in a set I already had. The bits I used were very sharp and left clean holes on both sides. The holes drilled that were not through had relatively flat bottoms. The center pilot and hole edges are a bit deeper than I like, almost like using a spade bit. Cutting a ¼" recess in ½" stock, the pilot on the 1¼" bit doesn't go through, but will leave a witness mark on the blind side. I did mark down on my rating b...

Woodboring Drill Bit Set
Would RecommendAs always, Irwin makes quality products that last and this is no different. I've used at least all of these bits once and most of them (especially the 1/2") more than enough to pay for itself and they're still sharp and going strong!

Good quality bits
Would RecommendBought this set to put in the door sense for my August lock and the bit worked as it should. Hardy shanks and quality material throughout. It was a good purchase for me.

Worth the price
Would RecommendThe set of bits cost as much as buying three by themselves so very much worth the additional investment. Quality of product was as expected for the name brand.

decent value
Would RecommendBought this kit became I need a 1-1/4" bit. A single bit was $14.00. Whole kit was $49. Not the best quality, holes are a shade ragged as they are not as sharp or balanced as better quality, but will do for why I needed at the time. The trim will cover it.

Good Forstner Bit Set at a great price
They do what they are supposed to do, Only wanted a 1 1/2 bit but it is cheaper to buy the set than two individual bits.
Nice improvement over the older models.
Would RecommendThis set offers a nice selection of sizes in one convenient package. Although it still has a tendency to leave shards if you are not careful, it is a huge improvement over the older Irwin Bits. And it can slip in the clutch. It would have been better if they had machined the shank with two flat sides to keep it stable. Over all this is an excellent product that I enjoy using.

How can these be any good
Would Not RecommendI just returned this set. I bought brand new and went straight home to drill some holes in a pine log. I was using the 2" bit. all it did was make saw dust. In soft pine? I had my drill press on the lowest speed it would go and only scratched the surface. I will stick with the FREUD bits as they are by far superior in quality but also price. But they at least get the job done.
