Clean holes, cuts fast.

Excellent bits, smooth cuts

I recently purchased these to use in my Jet drill press. They cut well. I used them to remove the majority of the waste in some mortises and they functioned flawlessly. No noticeable runout or wobbling.

Irwin FTW

I was able to get this set price matched to a local Menards so the price was very low. As always Irwin products are great, so naturally I love there bits!

Excellent tools

These were perfect for my projects. Very sharp and didn’t grab the material. Was cutting easily and easy depth control for what I was doing.

Quality at this price point

Not as good as the higher end individual versions but I haven’t found a better set in this price range. They’re great in the press but the jagged teeth make hand drilling difficult compared to smooth edge versions.

Solid wood boring set

These woodboring drill bits are solid frame drop Forged bits that have done exactly what I have asked them to in soft pine. I have not used them Yet on harder woods and will update my review with them then. Only slight slippage with the pine.

Very happy with these

Just bought these today 1/10/19 to make yard dice (YARDZEE).Put the bit in my ShopSmith drill press and drilled 21 holes in the first dice.Every hole very clean cut.Then did the other 4 dice so for all 5 dice that was a total of 105 holes, no problem at all no chips or smoke.Looking forward to the next 6 sets.Thank You Irwin very good product.

Clean holes perfectly centered

I used to pencil mark the center of the 0.5 in hole and use a normal drill bit. The result was off-center hole regardless of how I pilot hole it. The walls are messy and it could barely fit in some loss cables, let alone a dowel. With the new frostner bits, it locks onto the center dead on and never shift over the whole process. The wall is perfectly straight and clean. If you are like me who appreciate accurately drilled holes, this is a good investment.

Drills are great, but not to drill a deep hole.

So I ended up buying the small set (8 piece), and then need a different size so bought the larger 14 set. Both worked great to drill clean holes on the drill press, even in Black Walnut. The catch for low rating? Well you can only go about 3 inches deep, and no possible way to go deeper. I contacted a very friendly person at Irwin 800 technical support, who confirmed they do not make an extension that will work with the bits!!
