Easy does the job with these bits.

Used to drill grommeted hole in ceiling fixture to swag hang fan.

Didn't work with aluminum

Mine was packaged as Irwin brand (not B+D). But that sounds great to me and the actual bits look identical. So tried to use on some 1/4" thick aluminum deck railing and tried all five sizes which just put a tiny pin mark. It's crucial that countersinking is done before drilling but just in case these were designed to bite with a dent or centerpunch- I tried to predrill a small pilot hole. Tried it slow and steady with various pressure, even wobbled it a little. Nothing worked, they just wouldn't...

Good quality set for the price.

Product works exactly as it should. The bits are sharp and drill effectively through most materials. I bought these to drill out aluminum rims as they were shown to work well on YouTube. Worked great and did exactly what was expected.

Work exceptionally well

I like the variety of sizes. Please note that the taper is pretty steep, so it may dig further than you want. Not a problem in any application I have used them in.

Wrong tool was recommended

The rep recommended these to countersink hex bolts into plywood; but what I really needed (and already had) was a 3/4” spade bit. These bits, I’m sure, would be fine for the right application. I never even took them out of the package. I already have some small ones that work just fine, for other applications.

Good set for the price.

5 piece set, for $20, single bit was $10ish. so you get 5 different sizes to drill out conical holes. The tips are pointed so you do not have to pre-drill a starter hole. My conical drill bit disappeared, so the faster way to find it was to buy another one :). yep found it but mine has a flat tip (=pre-drill). so I'm keeping these.

Use a drill press on heavy gauge metals

Works best mounted on a drill press when boring through heavy gauge metal. High probability of damaging bit cutting blades without a drill press i.e. improper entery and exit angles.

Not Impressed

Packaging suggested would work on metal. Did not work well on metal for me. Perhaps better on wood, didn't try, just returned.

The two bits I have used worked fine- smooth cut in soft wood.

I like the cost of the set. It had every size you would need to do your project.
